Re: Fender strategy for low freeboard, high dock?

Magnusen, it's a bit of a clown show, but convenient.

Re: Fender strategy for low freeboard, high dock?

Thanks everyone! I'll make a fender board, but remembering to load it might be tricky... Hanging the fenders _from the dock_ might just have worked for that location, that's devious!

Fender strategy for low freeboard, high dock?

I have a Hvalsoe 16, but I imagine this would apply to a lot of similar boats. I rowed over to Kirkland for dinner last night and the dock we found was mostly a good 18+ inches above my gunwales....

    Re: Small Boats 2021 issue

Sheila, you might consider starting a new thread in a different section for better visibility. Maybe in http://forum.woodenboat.com/forumdisplay.php?6-Misc-Boat-Related perhaps? This is posted in an...

Re: Help me pick a boat!

Conclusion- thank you everyone! The HV16 kept sneaking on to the list, and it (barely) fits in my garage....

Re: Help me pick a boat!

OK after some research and soul searching I am halfway between a brand new glass Gig Harbor Salish Voyager and the first wood melonseed under 6K I see.

Re: Help me pick a boat!

I can picture all or most of us in that snapper, but I think I want something I can take out for a row by myself half of the time, and jam some of the full crew in other times. How does it row?

Re: Help me pick a boat!

Wow, thanks, this is all great. I have been lurking for a long time and I knew this was the right place. I am very intrigued by the boat broker idea.

I am hoping to stick with wood, but am maybe...

Re: Help me pick a boat!

Whoops - sorry if I wasn't clear. I know I am not building anything soon. I was planning to buy one, but "having one built" sounds interesting. I'd assumed that was a lot more $$.

    I've rowed a...

Re: Help me pick a boat!

I guess one of my questions is, is wood a legit answer to this question? I don't mind taking on some maintenance obligation, and the $20K or whatever for a glass boat that will last forever seems...

Re: Help me pick a boat!

They do! I am staring at the punch right now. I guess if "available on craigslist for $3800 with a trailer" was one of the criteria we'd be done, except for waiting. If the perfect boat was for sale...

Re: Help me pick a boat!

[QUOTE=David G;6443108]When you said up to 4 adults, and crabbing, I pictured a power boat. But let's see what the hivemind can come up with for primarily oar-powered (but with an auxillary outboard,...

    Help me pick a boat!

I know this question has been asked, but I would love some help.
I have 3 boys under ten, a busy job, and have accepted I won't be building anything in the near future.

But, I need a bigger boat....
