Everyone, thank you for checkin in on this forum and posting your opinions and suggestions.
The boat will not be cut up after all, she has found a new home. Look for pictures of her restoration...
I said he clearly didnt know much about wooden boats. I said nothing about his experience otherwise.
please stop posting here if you have nothing nice or helpful to say. Thanks!
Honestly and respectfully...you have no right to tell me what the main problem with this situation is. That is disrespectful and rude. If you will not offer advise, then don't offer your ignorant...
I appreciate your words but like I said, I am 21 years old, and though I do love wooden boats with a deep passion....I have a larger urge for sailing over repairing. I did expect this to be a 3-4...

Just some more information...it is design # 618 E....there are 4-5 of her sisters still sailing around...so if anyone knows one of those people or if someone owns one of these...

he told me he specialized in wooden boats...he told me I should "definitely" take on this project.
please pass this around to your friends...

Im not sure if advertising on here is kosher or not, but I figured with the amount of activity i've seen on here in the few months ive been registered, it would be a smart idea.

Does anyone know more about this TWIC Card?

I would say there should be a market for these, depending on their condition.
post some pics so we can take a look at what your talking about.
Thanks!
P.S. you never want to be able to motor faster than you can sail. That is my recommendation.
yanmars are the best. enough said.
thanks...looks like that book has great illustrations...i ordered it on amazon last night
your following a very similar path to the one I did two years ago. We went to Brest, then to La Caruna in Spain...then down to Pt. Sagres in Portugal...off to the island of Madeira and across the...
Who is the author of this book?
Tommy,
you are able to get your license at 18. I wouldnt worry about how to log your hours...once you have enough, you'll know the right people to help you with that. 360 days at sea is a lot...
You could always save time and money by cold molding her in couple sheets of veneer.
Many true wooden boaters may disagree with me here...but cold molding a hull essentially eliminates the...
I know this thread is a little old and maybe no one cares anymore...but I sure do, because I bought this Alden Yawl....
She has been moved to Pease Boat Works in chatham and is having the keelson...
Hey there,
I dont have time to read all responses, but what I do know is I owned a 20ft simmons sea skiff and had a 45h.p Honda on it, which fit fine. We later upgraded to a 90h.p merc for more...
I spent 2 weeks in Brest two summers ago on a trip from Bergen, Norway to La Caruna, Spain.
If you are going to the "Port de Plaisance" harbor in Brest, you will find provisioning rather...
No, she is full keel. 36 feet.
I just bought her, and will have a better opportunity to take pictures in march when I take the tarp off to have her moved. but thats the best you get for now.
How come my pictures never load? Is there a way to submit an image without a URL?
I am using URL's from my blog, but they never load...it would be so much easier to just insert one from my hard...
I just bought Hull # 618 E and was wondering if anyone else was out there owning similar boats.
Of my design, 9 were made and the Alden co. told me that 4-5 of them are still sailing.

This is the new 12 that was just built and launched right? I thought I read about it in Wooden Boat.

It was Nathaniel Herreshoff that said this, except I think he was quoted as saying, "There are only two colors you can paint a yacht...Black and White, and I would never paint a boat black."
I have decided it would be best to have the keelwork done professionally by Pease Boat Works in Chatham, MA. I do not doubt myself in doing the work, however, if I intend to take this boat offshore,...
Are new keel bolts inserted from the bottom of the boat or from the top and inside the boat?
Generally, are they threaded on both ends? How exactly are they secured to the ballast keel and the...
Yes, I am well aware of the work I have for me. The boat was surveyed and some floors do need to be replaced, but that, as well as everything besides the keel doesnt bother me.
Since the boat...
I have bought a 1936 Alden yawl, 36 feet long. It definitely needs new keelbolts installed, and possibly repair work done to the keelson.
Has anyone done work like this on a similiar boat? Do...
