    I think the blow up plastic one would be the best one. Just blow it up with a foot pump - that would take very little time, then jump in, do the wash, jump out, tip out the suds etc. and deflate it....

    The key factor is parenting. Cruising kids are likely to have great lives if they have great parents - just like kids ashore.

    It's only a receiver. To send AIS data, you need an AIS transponder - they're pretty expensive.

    If I were you, just doing coastal sailing in your area, I'd just use the VHF and not worry about the licence. Don't swear or say anything about blowing anyone up.
