    Re: Small Sprit Rig Questions

It looks good. I'm tinkering with a sprit rig in my Shellback. The spars are a mix of parts from other boats. Each time I use it I learn something, or get a new idea. You'll figure ways to improve...

    Re: Adventures in New Jersey

I've visited Sandy Hook by car, and sailed past. It looks interesting for boating.
The boat traffic around lower Manhattan is impressive, lots of cross chop caused by big boat wakes.

Re: A Gartside # 130 followed me home

I think so. If it's a hollow glued up stick you might be able to soften the glue and straighten it before gluing it back in shape. For any stick cut it lengthwise and straighten then glue. Good luck.

    Re: Paint colors & Sources

I use Benjamin Moore, alkyd or urethane. The paint store will mix any color you like. It's good paint and costs less than marine paints.

Re: Finally, it looks like a boat

I remember that day on my first build. It was molds, then parts, a skeleton and Presto! A boat appeared.
    Interesting observation on the stress.

    Re: Adventures in New Jersey

I'm enjoying this too. The south shore of Long Island has similar barrier islands and bays. I sailed there for a few years in my Pennant 20, and again in my friend's 23' ketch. Both had keels, though...

    Good Books on Boat Repair?

A new boat neighbor has acquired a 1958 Richardson. It needs some fastening and caulking at least. What repair books would you recommend to new owners?

Re: My "new" (to me) Glen-L Fancy Free

In the eighties I used resorcinol, but it's rare and expensive now. For screw and glue I use Titebond III.

    Re: Cruising the Sands

Most of my thin water sailing has been in small open boats. My friend had a shallow keel 23' ketch for a few seasons in Great South Bay. I loved sailing in knee deep water.

    South Coast #5 Winch
