Re: I Will Never Ever Ever…

There's an idiot who owns one of these things on one of the small lakes I enjoy.
He tears all over the place and everybody else's boats get bounced around.
Yet he has the nerve to put a "No Wake"...

    Re: Detritus

In Leo's videos of rebuilding Tally-Ho, he often refers to "detritus" falling into the bilge.
I'd never heard of the term before.

Thanks. I was thinking of building his 16' Rushton Ugo canoe.
  5. Re: Ian, take a hike, and take Jim Cantrie with you

We still haven't heard from our almost 90-year-old great aunt in Naples.
She's an intelligent woman who hopefully got out of there early with her husband.
  6. Re: When will someone die standing in a storm to report on it?

    It really is stupid.
    All done for dramatic effect.
I've seen these people standing in ankle deep water when dry ground is 20 feet away.

How do you move the cavitation plate down on an outboard? It is a permanently fixed part of the outboard.

    Re: live trapping mice

This link explains how the trap is sprung. The lid to the bait chamber is forced upwards by the mouse sticking his head in there and the trap is sprung by the upwards movement of the lid.

The skill needed to feather lap these boats is mind boggling to me.
I've often thought of building one glued lap but thought it sacrilegious to build
any other way but what is pictured here.
  11. Re: Ian, take a hike, and take Jim Cantrie with you

Looks like Fort Meyers is going to get wiped off the map.
I've got distant family in Naples. I'm hoping they are hundreds of miles away by now.

    Re: live trapping mice

Link says they are electric (battery). What triggers the trap? A motion sensor in the bait area?
  14. Re: One insane englishman trying to rebuild the 1910 gaff cutter Tally Ho, in WA. (VI

I think the prop is set up to spin and generate electricity to the batteries while under sail. I don't see him using the electric motor all that much so I doubt those batteries will be drained very...

Mice don't have a chance in my house.
Our cat is a great mouser.
We were awakened at 5 a.m. the other day to the sound of him eating a mouse under our bed.
Not a sound you want to wake up to.

What will be the finish? Paint? Varnish? Epoxy sealed prior to finish?
I didn't seal with epoxy, knowing the boats would never be left out in the elements.
