  1. Re: looking for suggestions for a coastal cruiser

Before we get back on topic let me throw another log on the fire.
Ian Oughtred's design are lookers. My only complaint is the lack of flotation his open designs have though a builder could address...
  2. Re: looking for suggestions for a coastal cruiser

My 17' sail-n-oar has the same beam, 67", as Long Steps and rows pretty well with 9' 6" oars and sliding seats.

I got Long Steps study plans from Duckworks. $10 I think.
  3. Re: Skerry, square mast/spars, round mast/spars? Sail?

FWIW I started building my Skerry sprit sail rig immediately before the lug rig became available. I had time to cancel the sprit sail but ended up with an extra spar and gooseneck in the process of...

  7. Re: Raid Braid experience/ Dinghy main sheet recommendations

  8. Re: Raid Braid experience/ Dinghy main sheet recommendations

To oversimplify, there are 2 1/2 kinds of hulls.
    1) Planing hulls which will climb up on and skim across the water given enough power.
    2) Displacement hulls, yours, which will move efficiently...
