    hemp and graphite is ideal for brass on brass etc or untapered stuff.
    I don't see anything wrong with belt and braces thread tape on plumbing and neither do the plumbers I have associated with. But...

    It's crickets here , the last couple of weeks. My wife is taking it personally.
    Cooler at night now, but today we wilted about 11 am. I consulted the humidity gauge , it said 80 %.

    They aren't o rings though are they. Flat rubber washers/ seals.
    And yes you do, as you fit the shut off taps as well.

    There's plenty of good modern boats out there perfectly fit for purpose, countless.
    That purpose might be as a coastal cruiser, anchor every night, but there are plenty of modern offshore boats too....
