Must see the stove!
Hello,
My son is taking a gap year (Between Montpelier High School and Trinity College in Dublin) and wants to fill some of it with something really educational so he is joining the internship...
I made a nice soaking tub out of homedespot birch ply several years ago. I used a lot of epoxy. The best part is I have a bathtub I can lay down in (sixtoo). Still going strong with daily use.

Hi, thanks for the compliment. I built the 15 footer and love it. The little one is designed as a tender. What are you looking to do with the boat?

This improved my already good day. Good job.
This is the boathouse I grew up in.

Classic Boat is having their annual contest and they have pictures of each contestant. A pretty good collection of pretty boats.

It was a very enjoyable time. And a mess-about is a must. Good to see and connect.

Sorry, I'm dense. Is it Saturday or Sunday?
Really looking forward to this.
The weather has turned for the better (driving wise). I'm looking forward to this.

Count me in.

That's a big sea.
$5,000 for a bit of bronze.

My landlocked hill is in Barre. I'll gladly hoist a mug with anyone who loves wooden boats.
In Vermont the most essential tool is a really great pair of boots. Put up a tarp and work when the temps are above 15. (A bit more if you like epoxy.)
And welcome.

Second on the Tobermory Ferry. That sunset is still etched in my eye 25 years later.
Bought it for the slip!

How about some interior pics. Those are always in short supply. Even if we prefer to stand under the sun, a fair bit of time is spent down under.

I'm not interested. But I like to notice if boats like this sell.

That one infected me when I was a young boy. Still one of the greats.
I've been playing with the idea of getting an 18 foot deep V aluminum skiff and building a superstructure on it, a small cabin with near headroom, big windows and a small deck on the bow. Obviously...
It was a while ago that we spoke but I think I recall he was disappointed in the changes made in the Haiku that appeared in Watercraft, including the rig.
(edited to add: the boat in the article had...

I tried two ways. Lead on the sole and lead on the keel. The lead on the keel improved the righting movement in gusts (surprise!). If the wind never pushed the gunnel down under, ballast on the sole...
I have never been out of sight of land so I don't know. But I bought Haiku's plans and I built the model shown above to test some of these questions. I'm no scientist so I don't know how to really...
Thanks. It was a good one. 11 hours on I95, which is always a great excuse to listen to all the music I can't listen to at home.

It's probably been posted before, but I hadn't seen it. Moving along at a fair clip.

Silly movie. Fun, alright. But the boys who saw this movie paid much closer attention in class when I taught about the Peloponnesian war. I first read Treasure Island in the Classic Comics version....
Thanks for the kind words. I spent some time making sure she has the right rocker and righting action so legs are not necessary. A slight brush with a big toe sets it to motion. My friends knows, but...
Just finished my latest build: a dug-out cradle.

The way I sail (small boats big wind), it would be like drinking while riding a bike. I would get more on me than in me.
That happened to me once. I was in a dive bar in Paris where a marionette was singing Carmen in a falsetto with a ukelele when in the back of the room a bona fide opera singer stood up and joined the...
Can someone quantify - in non-tech terms - the quality difference in the images that come out of these cameras, let's say on a scale of one to ten?
That's a better direction for "xtreme" sports, or whatever.
Driving along you slow down when you see a derelict boat in a backyard. Come back later when there is a car in the drive.
(I guess this is if you are a re-builder.)
much appreciated
I have learned to deal with the lack of space. It is the lack of doors that gets to me....
Thanks. I needed that.
Hello,
I am a teacher (public middle school) in Vermont and I have the chance to create an in-service program that focuses on boats. This would be a one-day event for social studies teachers to...
That's great.
It's probably an apples to oranges, but I want at least this good of quality, taken with an old Cannon.

I know Lew recently started a thread about helmet cams and that was very useful. But I am still stuck. I like the fact that I can get a first gen Contour for 80 bucks, which is very appealing for a...
We teach who and how and why and more. (I'm a teacher. I teach ancient civilizations to seventh graders in a public school in a working class community and I teach the principals of flight. I also...
