Hey all,
Sorry for leaving you in the dark ,rest assured, things are moving forward. Satisfactory terms have been met and I am now in the market for a trailer. My plans are to get the boat...
Thanks for the suggestions, I am favoring the rabbet method over a true scarf joint. As long as I get the lines straight when I do the cutouts, it should be fairly easy to fit in the new wood. Think...
Thanks for your responses and advice. What I am understanding is that with enough glue area due to a well fitted scarf (or lap joint) backed up with a butt block, the repair would be as strong as...
I just returned from the Tamiami Boat Works after an inspection of Saltiguys boat . Sadly, there is a fair amount of rot in the chines running about 6 feet down both sides amidships. The edges of...
Thanks everyone, I just got an email from the person who placed the ad. Planning to have a look at her this weekend, will post pictures.
I recently saw an ad on Craigslist for an incomplete Bolger Champlain but have been unable to contact the owner. The build was well documented by someone who posted here as 'Saltiguy' who...
Thanks BBSebens , that's a good idea.
Michael, I have already tried that address several times with no luck. Perhaps you will do better. It's a great boat built by great guy. Hate to see it go down.

What I am trying to illustrate is that gun confiscation has not worked in Australia as there are more guns there now then before the ban( according to the article). Before we give up our right to...

Matoi,
See if this works. It is difficult to get a good shoot in the confines of the shop.

Matoi,
The boat is a Whisp with decks and bulkheads added. I will look for some pics.
The museum at Cortez is definitely worth it. Stopping for lunch at Joses' Real Cuban food makes it doubly so. You have to drive by it (on left) to get to the museum. The food is plentiful and great....
Matoi, I found an older picture taken during construction and posted it here.

Matoi, a picture would be difficult as the boat is strapped to the ceiling in it's winter storage spot. I will try to describe the mast step . I am using a 16' carbon windsurfer mast attached to an...
This question is asked often and cannot honestly say I notice a difference between tacks. The setup is such that another leeboard could be added ,though I have never felt the need. The board pivots...
Lewis, I set my sharpie up with a leeboard rather than a CB . Getting the initial location is easy , just clamp a thwart mounted leeboard to the rails and find a balance point. It also saves a lot of...

Thanks for all the info regarding Ulua paddling performance. We will continue to experiment to find the best setup.
Question for Ulua owners. Do you have trouble tracking when paddling ? Do we need to add a skeg? The boat is fairly unmanageable unless one person steers and the other paddles. We have tried...
Have you looked at a Bay River Skiff from B&B .

BTW. I added decks and bulkheads to my Whisp for dryness, storage, bouyancy and strength. Not exactly...
If you do go to Cortez ,be sure to stop and have lunch at Jose's Real Cuban food. You will pass it on the way to the museum. Really good food and lots of it. Jose is a piece of work as well.
I just saw one of these on craigslist if anyone is interested. Here is the link.

Hey John, I have been looking for this for awhile. Having lurked on this board for years, your offer prompted me to join.
Thanks, Sgali@hushmail.me
