Loaded up and headed to the Waterman's Museum in Rock Hall MD. He donated it to the museum after multiple ads and numerous inquiries which resulted in one nonsensical offer.
  3. Re: Sparkman & Stephens sloop - centerboard trunk repair

The boat is still afloat but the screws in the photo were removed this past Saturday from the trunk caps. There is definitely a problem. Now the owner needs to figure out where the stray current is...
  4. Re: Sparkman & Stephens sloop - centerboard trunk repair

The trunk sides are strip plank construction. Early strip plank was generally done with no sealant / adhesive and relied solely on the edge fastenings. In this case the trunk sides have edge...
  5. Re: Sparkman & Stephens sloop - centerboard trunk repair

I believe the original trunk failed due to the rigidity of the resorcinol glue which did not allow for expansion and contraction of the trunk sides. The first repairs were done in the first 20 years....

Apparently the sump pump wasn't the cause of the stray current cooking the fastenings. The center screw is new and there for visual comparison. The larger one is from the lower trunk cap and...

Value of NOS BETA 20 diesel

Anyone have any idea what a 12 year old never out of the crate BETA 20 HP diesel engine might be worth? It's got the Atomic four mounts and a 2:1 reduction gear.

The book doesn't specify designer but it must be the Edson Schock design. The 12' catboat that BrianY shows is a completely different design.
