Just a few pics of the now varnished frames, I managed to get a good deal on 6mm laminated glass so after taking templates of all the openings I now have windows ready to go in.
Thank's, definitely the most awesome one I've built :)

After what seems like forever I've finally done some more to the tug, mostly varnishing window frames but also starting to fit the necessary flotation foam needed to make her compliant with our rules...
The one job that I've been putting off is buying and fitting the gear and throttle cables. Locally I've been quoted from $125 to $165 each but I stumbled across a shop on the mainland selling a pair...
Not really building but still progress, I'm thinking I've overdone it with all the electronics :)
Thankyou gentlemen, I can't wait to get back into it and get the thing on the water :)

Everything seems to be taking longer than expected these days but I finally got to tow her out into the light, I was very surprised how light and easy it was to tow and oh what a difference getting...
Hello all, It's been quite some time but I thought I'd just check in to let you all know this build is still active and hopefully about to re-start for the final chapter.
For anyone that was about...
It might not seem like much but for me it was a big step to finally measure up and spend the money on the steering cable, I was a bit concerned about getting the length just right but in the end a...
Finally a coat of paint on the roof that I'm happy with, means I can start putting some of it back together :)
Ignore the runs on the sun visor, that's the next job.
It was after watching the episode of Free Range Sailing where they were talking to the builder of Notorious that I realised it was a good option for my project :)
To be perfectly honest I had never...
Evening all, just in case anyone was wondering what's happening with this project, I've been waiting patiently for my Macrocarpa Pine, finally out of the blue I had a phone call to say it was being...
Thank's for the compliment but I've seen some far more outstanding joinery on other projects here on the forum, particularly the traditional stuff, mines mostly bog and paint :)

And just incase anyone's wondering how the house build is going...
I felt a break from sanding was needed so I set about installing the all important sound system, when I cranked up the volume it rattled terribly but I found an amazing quality German made adhesive...
Hi All, I figured it was about time I posted some sort of update, not a huge amount done, more of a re-start really, first job was vacuuming all the crap off the roof, an unfortunate side effect of...
[QUOTE=Kapiteinterzee;6364303]Hello mermod,
This is not a flippant question, just curious. . .
Will you be doing as extraordinary woodwork on your new house as you have on the tug? And if you're...
Thank's for the comments gent's :) I'm really hoping this is the year it'll be finished but with the new house starting soon I'm guessing that's gonna take priority.
Phill
Not a lot of progress and I'm still in the spudshed but I have managed to get all the wheelhouse floor together and most of the panels epoxied, nothing dramatic but atleast you all know I'm still...
Still can't believe it's all mine although it's not looking quite so spacious anymore, we need to be out of our current home by Tuesday afternoon so all of our worldly possessions are now in that...
Well there is this 27ft St Pierre dory that's always been in the back of my mind :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, my new boatshed...........
Can't wait to get the tug in there :)
With days like this I wish I'd started boating years ago :)
Thank's for the advice, the guy that built this one made no allowances for sailing at all, only power which suits us at this stage, I'm sure if we get the sailing bug it wouldn't be hard to modify it...
yeah I knew that :)

Hi all, with the mini tug still under construction and the kids getting older I have been looking for something to get the family out on the water over this coming summer, I happened to mention this...
From what I've seen of other peoples slabs I really was blown away with the job these guys did, very professional with no mucking around, even though they are flat out they still brought the pour...
And as for the new boatshed, the concrete slab has been poured and looks awesome :)
Next up was to drill the mounting holes, seems a shame but had to be done :) after drilling through the epoxy patch I gave it a coat of black 2pack paint just to re-seal the area and make it look...
After spending the morning gluing up more of the flooring I decided to have a play with fitting the transducer for the Lowrance Ti7.
I've been chewing over how to fit it neatly, I can't mount it on...
I've been called many things but certainly never an artisan, thanks :)

Hi Lark's, it's Jarrah with Celery Top Pine strips, when I started it was easy to get full lengths of Jarrah decking but when I went back all I can get is the fingerjointed stuff, lucky I got the cap...
That's what I thought but the wife looked at the slab today and said "that's not going to be big enough, might have to add a couple more bays" .....................she's a keeper :)
Phil
Anyone that's followed this build from the beginning will have seen it move from my backyard to the spud shed where it currently sits, well it's been a long time coming but as of yesterday my new...
Last couple of days have been spent running timber for the floor in the wheelhouse, bookmatched again of course :)
Phill
Wow, it's post's like this one that make me wanna get out into the shed and do something:) perfect inspiration for the wooden boat builder :)
Phill
Thank's Rogan, I can't wait till I can put some of the other bits back on to break the white up a bit :)
Phil
Still waiting on materials so I thought I'd drop the hatches and sole in place, it's been some time since they were last in there and it's quite a relief to see they still fit nicely, gotta say I'm...
Think You're right about the frames, I was thinking ply more because if you look at some of the bow on shots she's very slab sided in places but falls to a very tight curve on the return under the...
Even more sanding today and a coat of primer on the cockpit area, boring I know but also very satisfying :)
Thank's Larks, much appreciated, everyone that I've spoken to since has told me how he would tell them all about the progress on the tug.
Phill
Dare I say last coat of primer on the outside of the wheelhouse today........
Nice to see another micro/mini project, sounds like we share the same philosophy when it comes to the use of our little boats :)
would you mind slowing down a bit, you are making my mini tug...
Ran some wires through the mast today, 2 LED spotlights, 1 all round white and the coax for the VHF, fun fun fun :)
I don't have a lot of experience with LED spotlights but I was pleased to see the...
Still too cold to spray so I've been pottering with the wiring, here's a shot of the LED cabin lights fitted in place, a small dob of sikaflex either end and the supplied double sided tape in the...
A few things I've been wondering about......I'm not convinced she is still symmetrical, is there a recognised way of checking this? I'm thinking a template of the good side which I can then spin...
Thank's for your condolences, I wasn't sure about mentioning it on here but he truly played a huge part in the build, not so much manual labour although he did help machine the keel and some other...
That's a keen eye you have there Slacko, it all becomes clear when you pick out those little details :)
I'm nowhere near being ready to start but I did find this very interesting article on...
Well, through my entire tugboat build my greatest supporter has been my Dad, even when he had to go into care I would take heaps of photo's of even the smallest details and spend hours showing them...
