It's news to me that fish farming can be done cleanly. Cool.
Seems like you should weigh in on their discussion, mmd. Or at least write an editorial for the local paper.
Impressive
Thanks for the mentions, folks - I appreciate it.
Ruth has 6 frames, the Shenandoah Whitehall has 5. To increase the Whitehall's length beyond 15', an extra frame will be needed. Or a facsimile -...

A pic I took of a young Milo Stanley standing on a Shellback. We were teaching a class at the WBS, and decided first to see how easy self-rescue would be in them.
I do recommend...
Sorry - I'm a few days behind on email. Scanning the internet just takes so much time!
Simply stretching Ruth is not recommended - she is strong enough to serve her purpose as designed, and no...
Success - without switching browsers. Y> As johnno did, above, I clicked on on the padlock symbol (next to the shield on the L side of the address bar), and switched to http, rather than https. Works...
Aluminum tubing works fine for stringers, and Yost shows one way of connecting them to wooden frames, for take-apart boats. For permanent stringers I would likely just lash them, as George Dyson did....
I've been enjoying this build for a while now. Thanks for posting!
Hola Josep
Maravilliso! Congratulations! A fine job, and I hope you have lots of fun in her. I'm looking forward to seeing her sailing.

I, too, have this rendering problem, and use Firefox. I find it so dysfunctional that the forum is barely on my radar these days, which is a bummer.
I have sailed Whisper - she handles nicely and can take a crowd. Very heavy. Great to see her here.
A worthy project, and I look forward to watching it progress!
You didn't mention them wanting to learn boat building first? Two years is a long time to wait to go sailing, and a lot could happen...
Take, for instance the Laser, which is cat rigged. They are sheeted to the quarters for upwind work. Any higher and one definitely loses VMG, as the boat makes far more leeway. This is basically...
One can have as many threads as desired - it was just more efficient for me to respond in only one of them.
My link takes you to the wooden frame construction section of Yost's site, which is about...
You've got three threads on your paddleboard, but I will more or less address them all here.
First off, you are basically attempting to reinvent the wheel. Go here and read all of it - Yostwerks ...
Sorry - it was my daughter's bday week.
More or less this. Optional (fabric) deck hides flotation and should keep the cockpit out of the water if she's on her side. Coaming can be squared off up...
On a lark, I've mostly drawn up something for you, Jack - shoot me an email if interested.

Not mine, just saw this. Can't beat the price.

Not her current state, sadly....
Piccolo's tiller has a bronze or brass ring at one end, which fits onto this bent hook atop the yoke. The hook goes up, then curves back and to starboard, ending at that little knob, leaving room for...
Lots of Laser racing, etc going on in Greece (or there was). You should be able to find or order one of these ($6USD here). I suspect you could just run the rubber shaft up through your current hole...
That's nice and all, but I got to eat some cold chicken over the sink.
There is a lot more flex in the early Oarmaster design. They will work for recreational use, though - and if you get oars with it, so much the better. They are likely worth a lot more than the rigger.
Looks like they are having fun. Easy enough for non-boat builders to whip up a plywood surfboard if they really wanted to try it themselves.
Baby steps.
I like it - thanks for posting, Todd.
I took these in 2013, just after the fire. Virginia was under a shed at the time.

There were a couple of others, in need of a bit of work.

We used to live in Weems, near Kilmarnock, and I've spent plenty of time ogling the boats at the DMM. I love these two:

Oh, very nice, Edward!
Best I can make out is that the sign says Priest's Samp--. That fits with most all of the photos I have seen of the smaller boats, which have priests in them. This one being...
These drawings do show some ideas that I find appealing, but on the whole it wouldn't work me.
Single paddles, yes, with no handle at the end.

A quick google image search will reveal a whole lot of these boats.

What they said. Nice boat, though, and well crafted.
Amusing real world testing. And, there's a part 2

Cool first boat, indeed. Any pics? Mahogany was just a presumption on my part. Teak makes sense, though camphorwood is beyond my experience.
There are no published drawings that I know of. I...
Cool. And some cool boats, too.
Nice dinghy Y>

I've used plenty of it, with no issues. I'm not a varnish connoisseur, but I do prefer it to the other products in the price range.
Nice to see my old stomping grounds again. We lived just up river, in Weems, for a few years. Windmill point was a common destination, for paddling or the tikki bar.

Ha, I guess I flunked that test. Sorry - I just didn't see your follow up post until now.
I hope the build is going well. I would definitely use okoume plywood, as it is strong enough, and much...

Very nice indeed - bravo.
I like the changes you made, and I will be very interested in hearing how she handles. Thanks for posting.

"Blueprints" can be had on Etsy or someplace similar - I don't remember, sorry. They print the in various sizes for display.
Plans are from the Motor Boating magazine,...
Nicely done Y>
I built my first Wee Lassie that way, and she was great fun.
