Glued ply for sale in Beaufort NC (not by me).
I needed a dingy in a hurry and knocked out a Bolger Nymph, intentionally making it ugly (well within my capability) but serviceable, little sanding, gosh ugly color. The intent was to make it...
I've used a bending iron ala guitar building to bend narrow (~5 in) ply for a coaming. Rocking back and forth over the iron for 10-15 sec and it will "give" as if the glue melts. Hold it for a moment...
Old thread, but it wasn't as old when I started my cradle boat.
It's a Gardner "NOD". The downside - It for my...

Thanks, that's it!
Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. This is the image I was referring to.

Does anyone know the design of the little silhouette at the top of all the plan pages on the Atkins website?
Re Seahawk not planing with a 7.5hp; A forum member posted a thread of a Seahawk he built. He borrow a 6.5hp just to move it to the dock until he could put his 15hp it. To his surprise it planed...
Congratulations. I'm still working on my 3 1/2 yr old grandsons cradle boat.
Is that a straight shear . . . possible coffee table later?
Apparently she made it and the Pacific also;
Why does he think I'm a barsteward?
Re: Rob540's description of steering by sail adjusting only; weren't those canoe yawls i.e. Rushton's, rudderless?
Check out the DK14 kayak, plans and construction article appeared in a early edition of WB.
Just to throw out some more suggestions:
ProgeCAD, a FREE AutoCAD clone, very symilar in use and function...
And you can extend the weight limitation by various systems to help you load i.e.
I guess the test would be to have the same person build the same boat twice using the different adhesives, or one boat using Titebond port side and polyurethane st'board. On a cheap boat that would...
I built a boat like that as a kid. It didn't make any difference if someone was at the helm.
Several years ago WoodenBoat had and article about a guy building a strip planked sailboat for his daughter to do some long distance cruising. He glued the strips with PVA glue, titebond or such. He...
This one deserves "Honorable Mention" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BG0FsyrJ9k
(Interesting note - Jacks great granfather help design Titanic)
Just saw the resurrection of the punt thread, West Mersea Duck Punt simple S+T version - first studies and paper...
Yeah, Still up the creek, greatly shamed by your prodigious output.
This thread hasn't been hijacked... there's no one at the helm!
I'm all for it James! But remember "penny a point and ain't no one keeping score".
Steve, that's definitely in the spirit of the challenge and you started and completed your boat within the time allotted (no rules, remember), you are the first entry. What was you final break down...
I thought I was posting in Building/Repair but I guess it could go either way.
The New low-cost "hardware store" racing class; thread has inspired me to propose an informal challenge: Build a cheap boat. No rules and no prize beyond bragging rights. Points given (but not...
Thanks for the update.
(The link didn't work me but found the video at - )
Probably more affordable but I think you still have the problem of not being able to see where you're going:confused:.

LOA Long version - 6.04 m - 20 ft 10 in
Short version - 5.04 m - 16 ft 6 in
BEAM - 1.27 m - 4 ft 2 in

It would work, after a fashion. The bermudan rig would have had camber where you cut it, while the gaff rig would not.
Google "5 hp diesel engine" you'll get a lot of hits, Northern Tool and Amazon among others.
Re: cooling and sound damping, I was thinking of a pulley driven air intake/exhaust fan.
I've got socks older than that.
Seriously, I figured someone was bound to have given it a try in the interim.
I've been seeing small chinese diesels for under $500, http://www.amazon.com/Morpower-ENG11070-Hp-Diesel-Engine/dp/B0052Z3XZM At that price I have to think why not?
So why not?
"Twist of Lym"...hmm. Does she track straight?:d
Sweet boat, know you'll enjoy her.
Does any have any experience with the Android navigation app Memory-Map (or similar apps)?
Even though it looks like Summer Breeze is in the lead, I'll second looking at Bolger's Designs. He specialized in your needs. Here's a link to a website about a $200 modified build of his...
Am I right in thinking that the Fleet is basically a Flint with straight(er) run aft in the bottom panels?
Or perhaps... The plans were included in 30 (or 40 or 50) Wooden Boat Plans which had other articles beside just the plans.
Thanks for the responses. I measured the 9.9 hp and it's 17.5 inches. I was relying on what the former owner told me i.e. 20 in. So while the motor may have needed raising, probably not to the extent...
I just bought a little home built skiff for my wife, a 13.5 ft Dark Water by Gator Boats. The distance for the keel to the top of the transom is 17.5 in. The boat came with a long shaft (20 in) 9.9...
I second the vote for eel.
John - I tried but had the same problem. You'd need to post a smaller version of the pic on your host site, then link to it.
