The two sail skiff is built to plan at 16' 8". The skiff on the right is 18'. Similar freeboard but a few inches extra length and beam makes a big difference.

If you don't have a router and don't want to invest in one right now you could find a local cabinet shop or boatbuilder to do it for you.
Tom Hill is not a tall person and these boats have high bows.
If this will be painted you might want to consider MDO plywood. It's the stuff with the resin paper faces used by sign painters and available at most real lumber yards.

How is the Irish Felt applied? Is it available as wide as canvas and stapled/tacked at the edges or is it narrower and stapled down as you would tar paper on a roof? I've done canvas decks and house...
