    On the subject of moorings, my marina here in Vermont, on Lake Champlain, the fee is $850 for the season (May through October). The charge includes use of the marina, parking, dinghy dock, etc....

    I like Bruce's suggestion of a bit of tumblehome at the transom for strength as wells visual interest. A Jon Boat is the most basic hull form (IMHO) and the tumblehome would raise it to another...

    I always seal all raw wood with coat of epoxy before painting. Great primer and be sure to hit end grain hard.

    I would only run the bunkboards down to the WC. I would not make them higher than the mattress except near the caddy bulkhead. Look for designs of others on Google. Make 'em pretty

    Those bunks look a bit narrow. On my cuddy I brought the bunks right up to the opening to the caddy cabin to get the most width for the bunks ass possible. You really do not need much floor space....

    You are doing a great job. Different motors sometimes require different transom heights. Usually there is a sweet spot for mounting the motor so it is always helpful to have a specific motor in mind...

    Do you have access to the drawing that shows the bolt pattern for your motor mount? That might have some effect on the design of the well.

    The reason I asked is they are usually more leak resistant when mounted vertically, and probably not so comfortable to sit on. Consider how often you will need to access them. Probably not often.
