3/4 inch total thickness? Unless you are talking about a dramatic upsweep in the sheer, I bet the rails will go on without steaming or soaking. You will need lots of clamps.
Ash is great, but heavy. If you have a Kevlar canoe you might consider Sitka spruce or Spanish cedar. It may get dinged up some on the car rack, but if you maintain the varnish those species...
Well, I added a few locks on various doors and I guess I can put away Grand Pa's pump and buck shot. Good thing for the bad guy.
"Army" of law enforcement in Watertown right now.
19 and 20 year old brothers from Russia living in Cambridge for about a year according to CBS. Near Chechnya - some Islamic issues there.
I am a Boston driver and Florida scares the $hit out of me.
I had a few tough, competitive coaches over the years. Men with a passion for the sport. Fortunately that was before there was a video cam in every pocket. I might not have learned as much as I...
Denatured alcohol is ethyl alcohol not isopropyl. I wonder about the apparent white haze on the piece in the picture too. I think it is a long shot as well, but I did wonder about the denatured...
It may not be the issue, but the words "denatured alcohol" stuck in my craw. Maybe a compatibility issue?
Apparently, this thing landed in the backyard the other day. Picking up rocket parts at Hanscom. Thought you air buffs would enjoy.

So, I have seen this a few times now. Please Edu-cate me. New Potatoes. Where I come from, NEW Potatoes, are the young'ins that come around August that are small and thinned skinned. IT IS NOW -...
Thinking good positive fighting thoughts from here. Get Well.

Crushed brick and concrete can have contaminants like lead from painted surfaces and asbestos along for the ride. Some vendors will provide test results, but be sure you know what you are getting.
Well, that was relatively painless. The family actually chatted for awhile. Good to have Alvin on our side. Now how is my bracket doing?
Well, first of all it is "Fitz". "Fritz" summons German roots that are probably there too although less recognized. I post this every year just to stir the pot a bit, but yes, my family and I will...
Earth Hour is tonight at 8:30 to 9:30 your time. Shut some stuff off. Yeah I know the politics. But I still turn stuff off, like most days.
Stick your heads out of the foul air and above decks and you will see she is actually working on a boat and has the fingers to prove it.
Hi. Fitz originally from Rangeley here. I know there have been some variations over the years, but seems a bit short, and needs more ribs. Nice boat though and you are treating it right. Someone...
Sorry to hear this, Jim. Take care.
Fitz.
FWIW: I have had a Rigid for 5 years or more. I put a lot of canoe planking (5/32's inch), canoe strips, and hardwood trim for canoes through it and it has worked fine. A friend of mine has the...

Your yard looks like a marina, but you are miles or more from the water.
JMAC, I grew up skiing at Saddleback. Still my favorite place to go when we can.
Did you try the contact information on the website? As far as I know, that was/is his family business.

Good luck.

I corresponded with Saltiguy a bit. His first name was "Bill". He and his family ran boat tours. Maybe his family still does them. The website is here with the contact info:

Learn to J-stroke and other strokes. You will be glad you did and have even less use for a keel. There are good on-line video tutorials. I usually put the keel back on. The screw holes bother me.
I was letting the dog out last night and noticed a high flying, very bright satellite. I confirmed it was the ISS with the handy cell phone app.
I waved.:p
I am guessing we have about 2 ft. There is a great deal of drifting going on and it is still snowing in good shape.

I now know precisely how an avalanche works. You put a few inches of wet snow on the roof, let cure a bit, then put a few feet of drifted, light fluffy stuff on top of that layer. Then when the dog...
Snowing wicked haarrd, now.
Yep, and continue to plan my escape.|;)
If I brave the 2 inches of snow in my driveway and venture out for a gallon of milk, I risk a year in jail and $500 fine. The nanny state does it again.....|:)
My nephew had his custom fitted and made wheelchair lifted. This technique worked. No questions asked.
Chris:
Great thread. How are the ribs secured to the bottom board? Screws, other?
Jeez, thanks for posting that. It explains everything. I am lucky that I managed to spawn two kids.
Actually, the scientists are wrong. The reason for the lack of sex is utter exhaustion. After...
You can always dress the stem up a bit. Nice beveled edges, round the ends, etc. Some of the better builders of wood and canvas canoes put some decorative touches here.
Ooohh, this thread is gonna be a good one.....

I find it kinda coincidental, but I restored a 1964 vintage Old Town, lightweight 15 footer, that was sent to the same address, although the name had changed. My canoe was sent to, "The Boat...
I stand corrected. The build record indicates it is an OTCA model. The later decks threw me off. Interestingly, I may have restored a canoe that went to the same marina in Maryland in 1964 or so. ...
About the smallest I would recommend for two people and some gear is a 16 footer. Keep in mind that a longer canoe will be easier to paddle.
Many thanks for the Birthday wishes. I had a good day.
Fitz
Looks like it might be a Guide model. I have one and it is one of my favorites. It should dress up nicely.
Post the serial number at the WCHA website and they will post the build record. Decal type suggests later than 1926. If you need help with the restoration just shout.
I simply provide a link suggesting they explode and mention mercury is a concern and I am labeled a conservative conspiracy theorist. Whatever. Yeah, I have 4 ft shop lights too and dispose of them...
