I crossed that line some years back. Reagan turned me off of republicans.
  3. Re: Georgia vote. Something I just realized.

The question looms: Given that Trump endorsed candidates haven't done all that well, will republicans in office be doing Trump's bidding, or, perhaps, think in terms of the what's best for the...

Trump picked another candidate who lost.

That so many voted for a clearly unqualified person is still a bit frightening.

Fraud is a crime. Inciting violence is a crime. Yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theater is a crime, unless there is a fire. Slander and Libel are not free speech.

    Re: Alex Jones' bad day

Bogus comparison. This man has been judged by juries. He's been told to pay tons of money to his victims. That's because he lied ON HIS SHOW.

Maybe it's just me, but that makes the show itself an...

A larger question here: If he's losing suits for things he's said on his show, why's he still got the show?

    Re: His tax returns.

Write your reps. At a minimum, one should HAVE to release tax returns to run for office, especially president.
  11. Re: Movies that have held up and those that don't

"Harold Lloyd's Wide World of Comedy" was funny as hell.

Some of the old silent movies hold up.

Some Laurel and Hardy and Abbott and Costello films hold up well.
  12. Re: Movies that have held up and those that don't

Yes. I remembered the name about 30 seconds before I clicked onto the bilge just now. I thought it a fun flick.
  13. Re: Movies that have held up and those that don't

I remember a movie I really loved but apparently didn't do well. Don't recall the title, but a bunch of kids kidnapped this rich guy, and no one pay the ransom, so he ended up blackmailing his wife,...
  14. Re: Movies that have held up and those that don't

I was thinking of the '51 version, when special effects were limited. Never thought of it in terms of the cold war.

THEM had, for the time, very good special effects.

Re: Modern cars are way too complicated.

I had a car with a floor button that told the wipers to make one sweep. We rented a modern car for our trip to Fla. a few years ago. It was much too complex for me.
  16. Re: Movies that have held up and those that don't

Two old horror movies: The Thing and THEM are still fun to watch.
  17. Re: Movies that have held up and those that don't

My problem with "JAWS" is that once that got the harpoon into the shark, they'd have tied the other end of the rope to the bow of the boat rather than use barrels.

Sometimes I question if 'we can do it' is a good reason to do it. Not at all sure many of these modern features are postivie featured.
