    They are Sail GP 50 foot foiling cats with speeds up to 50 knots . Normally sailed by a 5 man crew including helmsman, wing controller two grinders and a flight controller.

    Sounds like a wild night in a notoriously dangerous area.

    In our case we where around 130k of the entrance to Juan de Fuca Straight with clear sky’s and only brisk NW .

    I suppose one fundamental difference when running a smaller yacht is more reliance on both mechanical and electronic self steering, due to small crew.
