Nothing even noticeable, I was going pretty slow and had just driven her two hours in the dark and was too tired but wanted her off the street.
First quote came in at almost 3k so thinking a boom tent for now lol
Decided to try out d.2 so refinishing the d.1. Now….looks lovely https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221226/dee36f0c9dcd7d6b0facf0f855ce5f09.jpg...
Anyone know companies in the Seattle area that make covers? Gonna be tough to get one done myself anytime in the next 3-4 months so figured I would look around for outsourcing that work since I...

After some research I'm not too sure I want to keep the stuff, I might give it a sanding to see how easy it is to remove. I think the seats are made of teak but I'm not 100%. I need to refinish...
Update: I do think it was condensation, I ended up awake at 2 am due to kids and went out one night to check on things and there was condensation all over as it got below freezing. My assumption was...
Yeah I didn't do them originally simply put on some maintenance coats in summer. Didn't expect it to fail so quick. I'll take them in the garage for a sanding and try a lot more coats this time I...
Hmm well I had that hatch closed so maybe airflow is bad. I will give that a try and see if it continues
That's a good question...I'm not sure. It's been rainy so I just assumed. I suppose the only option is a space heater or something to absorb moisture?
So the seats I have in the cockpit are finished with Deks Olje matte, when I bought the boat this summer I added two fresh layers that seemed to absorb fine but was a bit surprised to see a lot of...

Sick kids and snowy weather meant I wasn't paying much attention to the boat the past few weeks. Finally got out here and was met with rust marks all over the stove and sure enough there is a leak...
The staple gun won't as it's a manual one, I could find one or get one or my air compressor...as long as it can be removed perhaps it would hold better than staples. I suspect the issue also is the...
Can you share a pic of what a crack means? Does it go through to the wood?
If I make the strips thin at the end the staples go over the whole strip which means I have to remove the staples to put other strips on so they lose their shape if I do that....would a nail gun be...
I'll be honest I've sorta dead walled at the sheer strip and feel pretty frustrated. I thought I finally had it on right today and realize one side had popped out and went through a struggle trying...
This is what backing up in the dark gets you with the mast laid down https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221127/dccdf503b285f2ed39fbaf8f134e2843.jpg
Sorry all I ended up at a boatyard, wife wasn’t too fond of me working under the boat :p

Well that’s an idea, thanks!

This was actually what I first tried, the problem is the trailer has a groove for the keel so I need to lift it quite far to get to the bottom
Here's a good one on what not to do lol, the bravery showing this mistake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQETAiW9f4A
I just found out the boatyard nearby "won't touch wooden boats" so haul out isn't an option so I have no backup right now. Basically our Eun na mara is sitting on the trailer in our yard but I've...
I had to search this...it's basically applied like fiberglass but more visible?

Oddly enough it turned out to be a common military symbol so people ask me if I'm military sometimes lol.
I started my CLC Skerry in August 2019 and finished in August 2021, I named her Dandelion, because at the height of the pandemic we had a baby and our daycare shut down forever so we had a 3 year old...
Not a fan of finishing touches? lol. I imagine it stops the varnish from getting all scratched up? I know on my skerry I was considering leather where the sprit touches the mast.
Latigo I guess
The last major unknown is the bottom paint, boat stands arrived over the weekend. I've got the paint. If that goes well then definitely. Just in time for cold weather :P
Got the edge there yesterday, not pictured though

Moonbeam came with a partially finished gaff that’s birds mouth construction and weighs quite a bit less than the...
Anyone have good recommendations on how to run wires into the cabin with waterproofing? I bought a 50W solar panel but struggling to find the best way. I've seen these wire glands as one option but...
Yeah, with centerboards and rudder up 18" draft, 20ft loa
Ooohhhhh ok, Ill check it out. I assume they offer offline maps and work off GPS? Way less work than adding more electronics.
Anyone have recommendations? Considering one for sail camping and help with anchoring depths and such.
Ohhhh thanks for recommendation I’ll give that a try
Looks like it's coming along, hope it's ready in time for the festival!
Well you can look at the wooden handle above to see where my taping failed lol. There's mistakes all over but I don't have the time to do a precise job worthy of award. Just focus on the non border...
That sounds like a damn good varnish job. Luckily I’m repainting the deck and cockpit so I’ve been diligent about removing the mess. ...

Second attempt
Previous owner of moonbeam was given the run around about the hin for some reason I still don’t understand so I have two registrations for the boat lol. I dislike most processes that involve...
Get to practice more I guess thanks to the rain https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220917/328f0399e484d8f366eccdfe56c0d7a4.jpg
Fair point, the owner had no shackle so I had to drive it home like this. Suppose those forces may have helped this along
Good idea, my only goal was to get the boat home for repairs and some paint/varnish. I've got a shackle on order and a new winch strap with a cover so you can rest easy :P
