The small project I'm currently doing is my first one using purple heart, and as I saw/sand the wood, it loses its "purple-ness" and turns a basic brown color.
Question: Will the color come back...

Maybe I mis-stated it. "30 degrees into the wind" means thirty degrees upwind from a beam reach.
It will point as high as 45 in bigger wind if I'm not singlehanding it, but 30 degrees up...

I can't speak for others, but I'm on my third season with my own rigging. I did it with the cheap 20 dollar tool. Definately more time consuming, but WAY cheaper than the 250 dollar bolt cutter...
