Yes, I got that far...but...who is the original source for that picture? WHY was that taken? What the hell IS that, anyway?
No really. What is the context of that photo, who are those guys, where the hell did that photo come from?
These Liberals and Conservatives can hem and haw and talk the whole issue to death, but the fact of the matter is the marlin menace grows each day, they become more militant and more organized each...
Where did that fondue photo come from? What was the source? We have ways of making you talk.
You people know nothing. I was THERE. This was a benign all-vegan whale-watching cruise, when all of the sudden that marlin ATTACKED out boat out of the blue. I swear, the marlin attacked first,...
Oh, I'm certainly not confusing YOUR model with the old Sterling kit...apples and oranges. Someone had mentioned a kit their dad did way back when, that is what I was referring to. The sterling...
Howdy. I have three whirlwinds, including a 16 footer.
Dents from the trailer...I would weight them down from the inside for a while...car batteries and such...give it a little time, they should...
That was the old Sterling Models kit...I had one when I was fourteen, it was beyond my skills, and not a great kit...I mean, it was a great kit in a lot of ways, but quality control was exceptionally...
So...this was my third whirlwind...she is done now, but still fooling with the motor, I removed the shift shaft from the lower end, now I need to disassemble the lower end to replace it...otherwise...
Still have it, will wait until better weather to sell it...
Here's a video of the maiden voyage...
Since then, I have restored two more Whirlwinds, one 16 and another 14, a deluxe version...

It would be peanuts, I am sure. It belongs to a fellow who passed away, and the stuff has been sitting in his yard for five years. I was just there this weekend...one thing is has is a very decent...
Thanks! That helps!
I have a hard time with posting pictures here...
That is the new whirlwind after I blasted her off at a car wash...
Howdy! Nice work on the Whirlwind...I have two of them:

There should be no movement of the hull at all...I think once you replace the deck and...
This is a Whirlwind I found in a junkyard...it was filled with rainwater for the past five years since the owner died...well, the fact that it was filled with water at least indicates it's...
I've built a lot of Sterling mahogany Chris-craft kits...but can't find the pictures...
So here's a (gasp!) PLASTIC Flower Class Corvette I put together over the winter......
Seems like a lot of people have really fond memories of this one...

And..,I bought a second one...see...
You know what else? I used half a quart of pre-zip-code Balto brand marine epoxy to refinish the bottom. Came with the boat. Best paint I have ever used!
I'll set something up. Probably do more tubing than waterskiing, nobody in my family knows how to ski, the last time I did it myself was 1977 in summer camp, and I was ten years old!
The varnish I...
I need to put on some fittings for towing skiiers, any suggestions?
I did what you said, I kept it simple, about eight coats of Spar Varnish from Lowes. Forgot the brand right now, but it was...
One dogbite later, just about done, lots of pics here:

If it is helpful for you to see an intact one, stop by anytime, but sounds like you have the data you need already...
That 5hp motor looks beautiful, but it's a lot more than I want to spend on a...
That is amazing that you loved it enough to have production re-started and eight new ones built! Mine is sitting in New Jersey at the moment if you want further measurements, feel free to come over...
Yep! Found out that's what it is...
Mine is all finished with restoration:

Doubt you will be able to avoid heavy sanding, there really aren't any shortcuts there.
Don't know about a cover, I need one for mine, too.
Lots of progress on mine, lots of pictures here...
The vast majority of Japanese branded stuff is made in China also. My Nikon is a high end one, made in Thailand. I know who Deming was, and I know from experience the Chinese can make quality, but...
Get rid of it. While it might EVENTUALLY set up, after a few weeks, it's not going to be a good finish, it will probably always stay rubbery.
Epoxy does go bad sometimes. I have used some Petit...
I am involved very heavily in Chinese manufacturing, and I travel there a lot.
China is capable of making 10-for-10 quality, if:
1. You provide enough "adult supervision", often involving you...
YES! That's the motor I want! Or something green! Something with FINS, dammit! I will look into the fuel pump, too. Right now, new fuel tanks are something I want. It has one plastic...
The only bummer is the Johnson is a few years too late for the boat, the motor looks like a 62, the boat is a 57. I like the looks of an earlier motor better...
I've heard horrible things about the...
All done! Floorboards back in place, motor mounted, and I could not wait until Xmas to give it to the new Captain, she is ten, she was pretty blown away. Check the pictures:...
Hm. Green Lake is pretty far from me, but post pictures if you can...it IS a nice boat. Great looks, and it is well-made. I like it a lot. It's a lot less work than a plank on frame boat, too.
Do you guys think a layer of Epoxy over the wood and stain is worth doing, before actually varnishing? I am going to lose the glow of the wood and varnish? Will it make maintainance easier? Less...
No comments, no suggestions, nothing? Nothing to say about all the photos? Surprised.

I am getting close to being ready to...
Yep. I think she would love the painting project, that's a great idea. Wonder if the paint is dry by now? It's in an unheated garage now, that Rustoleum may take a while...
Does anybody have any...
Heh, shark's teeth! Great idea! Except, maybe, you might look a little silly chugging along at 3mph with shark's teeth. Kind of like a big fancy spoiler on a really slow car!
It's for a girl,...
Welp...bought her yesterday, she is all done today! Just need to add an electric motor, and some chrome bits. Gotta have a lot of chrome.
Paint is Rustoleum, the only oil paint you can get at 10pm...
Seems like they were pretty popular back in the day. There is no serial number, no nothing to determine the exact build date. Not sure how the registration number correlates to any date, that's all...
PS that racing stripe on the foredeck is good for an extra five knots, at least.
There is that strange bracket that was on the instrument panel...what it held, anybody know?
Okay, lots of pictures here:

I picked her up today. Reasonably happy. Dissapointed in that the previous owner let it get wet, and there were...
Should be easy to rig that. I wonder how much power I will need? I tend to think 5hp is almost excessive. Need to translate the pounds of thrust from the electric to horsepower.
Jackpot! Searching for further details now.
No, I'm saying from the picture, which the seller took, the boat has an ugly upturn to the prow, but that could just be the picture. I'll find out tomorrow when I pick it up.
