Couple of thoughts:
- Measure once, buy twice. Measure twice - still a crap shoot.
- Nobody's going to see both sides of your boat at the same time.
- Everything I've ever built has in it what I...
Thanks for the response Chuck, I thought it would be a costly repair, not for me. I have joined to post over at WCHA - a great site such as this one, thanks...

Jim, I don't like the planned coaming either, I will be going more traditional as you describe, I've also added the curved raked transom and crown to the deck picked up from the TomCat plans.

Thanks!
It's on order from Amazon as we speak ;)
Right Bob...think I'll stick (pun intended) with the thickened epoxy. I'm not sure how tight fitting I can get those strips to get even pressure on them for PL Premium. Thanks for the quick reply.

Couple of questions there Tom if you don't mind...
What wood are you stripping with?
Did you scarph to get those long pieces?
Are the strips 1/4" x 3/4"?
What kind of glue you using?

Answering myself...I think I got it...I lofted out the sheer line of the plan view and got what I needed. Now I can see just where butts 12 and 24 cross the sheer...I think!
Thanks for the input guys...I'm still staring this over...I did loft out the body plan (just stations 0, 1 and 2 and it may give me what I need...not sure, had to break for bbq and beer 'til next...
I am lofting this out full size. Started this morning and for all the looking these over never noticed:
How to I get the points where butts 12" and 24" touch the sheer in the front half? Hope you...
Anybody building the Tom Cat from full set of plans? I'm using the plans from the book ( The Making of Tom Cat - by William Garder) and there seems to be 1 missing offset - for butt 24" at frame 1....

I don't see how that keeps water out of the wood on the inside where the pivot goes through the case.

I've got the plans for 12.5' Tomcat...a traditional build with 5 stations, ribbands, steamed frames and planks over that.

Thanks John...that's what I'm going to do - steam bent frames on the ribbands, not beveled and layed up to the ribbands.
Speaking of that, I presume you have to induce a little twist to those frames...
