I was given to understand there would be cake. TELL US ABOUT THE CAKE!!
Happy birfday, Htom, and let's see if we can bend an elbow this spring.
And it keeps ticking away, a second every second, making all the rest of us very happy.
Yes, it is. That's my point.
I had my dudgeon all in a high state, then I saw where this came from.....
There are a LOT of people in Central and South American who view the CIA as nothing more than another cartel, maybe a bit more disorganized and better funded than the "private" efforts. We certainly...
I beg to differ.
Oh, my. SIGNED.
Maybe a 1/650 scale model of Great Eastern? Okay, maybe not.
I really didn't know about Congressional retirement one way or another. And, I'd like to remind all gently, I'm not the original author of the e-mail. I'm just passing it along. Cut me a little...
Thanks for not dismissing what I said out of hand. I would like to add that each constituency can only elect one person at a time; but none of us voted for all of them, which is what The Government...
To give your argument a twist, if you don't want the programs you should be willing to pay THAT price too. Have fun with all the crazy addicted homeless people wandering on your front lawn. Have...
We do not have government by referendum in this country so "the lower and middle class" didn't vote for any spending at all at the Federal level. They-- we-- do not have a voice save through our...
Really? How do you find this to be pointless?
And I would submit that I need not provide someone's living expenses anywhere at any time for any reason. If they wish to serve in Congress, they...
Yeah, he is. I agree that he probably could stand to cool his heels in jail for sedition; but jeepers, who wants to bell that cat and open that can of worms? Now, I don't pretend for one minute...
Okay, I'm gonna want to see some sort of citation for this. It's an awfully bold statement, and should require awfully bold evidence.
Just got this in an email; normally I'm not much of one for even opening chain mails, much less agreeing with them. But this... this caught my eye.
To which I would add the 'constituent pay'...
I'd be happier with a flat tax of 15% on personal earnings and 10% on corporate with absolutely no loopholes; but... yeah, I do. At least on a percentage basis. Some guy who makes 23 million a year...
Who's gloating? It's a discussion, that's all. For my own part, I'm sad to see Phillip go when there are SO many other, more qualified candidates.
I think this thread will go to four pages and there will be plenty of name-calling by all the usual suspects. I also predict three graphs from Keith and possibly a banning coming out of...
You are clearly not a stupid man. So why do you so quickly jump to outright hyperbole?
What you said above is not what was said in Post 692; and, mark you, this is the work of a man who has...
You gonna come out and say the same thing next time Botebum or myself gets banned?
I doubt it.
Mass murder.
Serial murders is defined as more than three killings over a span of greater than 30 days; mass murder is three or more inside of 30 days. Or, in this case, 30 seconds.
I voted...
Mr Winter, very well said. I would add that it seems to be part of the American national character to see most attempts to address our own shortcomings-- to even raise the point that we as a society...
Oh my, yes we do.
If you really are interested in perspective, may I suggest that you not be so quick to dismiss other points of view as simply "partisan," and not make inflammatory comparisons? Because it really...
I wish you guys would quit calling Phillip stupid. For one thing, it's just rude and for another, it's not true. He's uncomplicated and down to earth, and sometimes has trouble with seeing the...
Um. Do we live in the same metro region? Because other than Penn and Broadway over in North MPLS and about a 6-square-block area of Frogtown in St Paul, there is no place in the Cities I feel like...
Maybe you-all should have done more to keep it than simply sending Geo. Vancouver in to plant a flag and then sailing away.
Now THERE'S an interesting topic for an alternative-history book: WHAT...
And he's fat. Not as fat as Rush-- who is?-- but pretty damned beefy. Pointing toward his being a self-indulgent tub of goo who's addicted to his own personal comfort. I bet he drives a black SUV,...
Oh, that is PRICELESS. I can't think of anything else that so clearly illustrates the hypocrisy and lies coming from these effin' pigs.
What a sorry excuse for a man. Grey hair and all, he is...
What I would really like to see happen is that some third-world armpit like Republic of Congo issue a warrant for his arrest; hires an outfit like Executive Outcomes to snatch him; and for him to...
Oh c'mon, guys: Two hours old and 25 views and not one comment? Did I set the bar too high or what?
They also create laws (or do not repeal, which is tantamount to the same thing) which increase freedom and save money. More importantly, what they do is to fulfill the requirement of the...
I bet you'd have been a good bit more frightened if you'd known that some of the Yellowstone grizzlies have been tranquilized so many times with PCP that they are prone to flashbacks.
Yep. ...
No. ONE of his former classmates described him that way. If we're going to be precise with our terms, then pray be precise in all terms. How in the world does one make the leap from the opinion of...
That is seriously cool.
The last time PEF was funny, opium was still legal
A little more of a capital investment, but probably a higher payoff as well: The Pedal Pub. If you're going to combine microbreweries and bikes, why not do it all in the same vehicle?...
Well said, Mr Lebens.
Dylan, what would you say your reaction was to the sheer size of the nation and the diversity of its people? I only ask because I've had a few friends from the UK who came to visit and they to a man...
Dylan, this is a HUGE idea, one that I think hews closer to the heart of the American political debate than any other single sentence I've read in a very long time. Bravo, sir: well played <golf...
Andrew, you certainly have a point, but unfortunately it is neither topical nor germane. Can you please keep your bitterness about the Deepwater Horizon incident out of this?
Try aspirin in addition to the Vitamin I, it works differently than ibuprofen and I often find the two together provide better pain relief than either separately.
"I see your point but I can't bring myself to just come out and say so."
A little less name-calling might be a good place to start
Okay, that was even more opaque than usual, Jamie. Do what now, yo?
This was originally posted by forumite PatCox on 12-8-08; the original thread is archived, and if you want to access it it's easy enough to do so. It's suffered enough thread drift that I didn't...
Those are archery targets, not crosshairs. Much of a muchness, true, but the message is subtly different for those smart enough to see it :D
THERE we go. Although I would submit that no Democrat has gone and shot a Republican officeholder, independent of what's been said in the national rhetoric. I sometimes with I could punch Rumsfeld...
Too much light pollution here in MPLS :(
that's kind of a stretch
