There was also some discussion that the vessel sank shortly after it was abandoned, so plucking the crew off the deck may not have been possible or advisable - apart from the rigging questions.

Again one of the worst parts of this fiasco is that the Captain by his choice, not only risks the lives of his crew, but has put USCG personnel in harm's way - really for no good reason.
Just an update from their facebook page-

One of Bounty's generators has failed....they are taking on more water than they would like.

I like "Maine, Vocationland."
I'll swing by in the morning to take a look, I bet she's a real beauty.
If'n you can't get cedar, pine'll do.
Another with some fun powerboat discussions hidden in his articles is Weston Farmer's "From My Old Boatshop." Gives some good historic perspective that might be helpful.
Isn't this the reason that they invented Twitter?
Watts = Volts * Amps, remember, West Virginia.
Good song, well done, but one would be pretty hard pressed to call that bluegrass with a straight face.
Congratulations, there are always more old (and new) artists, writers and musicians to discover, and one of John Hurt's stature is a delight.

Incredible, a real delight.
Loverly, stop into Rockland on your way home.
I'll let you know what ties up here in Rockland.
If you haven't already found these folks on line, they should be able to help you:

Oh man, that's too much like work! That'd be a college thesis in political theory. And statistics. You'd really have to graph each state...
Statistically the difference is pretty insignificant -
Governors by his numbers percent - R-58%, D-40%, I-2%
Lowest unemployment percentages R-62%, D38%
It might be more significant to...
Used to be it was Turn around, turn around, and then wasn't it Sunrise, Sunset?

I guess that I'd need your definition of clipper bow before I'd step in too deep. For the most part anything on a yacht or a small modern sailboat is an affectation. On a traditional working sailboat...
Colin, do you know what their funding sources are? What percentage is government monies? That seems to make a big difference here in the US.
From my limited experience, concrete in the bilge is more of a problem above the concrete, not below. Being somewhat impervious to water, the bilge water sits on top of the interface between the...
Missed, but remembered by many, many of us.
Lovely, but it's too bad the city of New York can't take care of their own boats at South Street Seaport.
Only $150K a year? that's too bad, she's got a lot more talent than Mittens Romney, she should earn more than he does.
Tall ships are still relevant, as is seamanship, it's the funding model that's gone all haywire. Too many replicas have been built, often at the expense of the true historic vessels that are still...
It might really give basketball a run for the money in the TV ratings for the "Men ages 12 to 99" category.
Skuthorp, I expect that you are correct, she's an athlete, not an erotic dancer, though she is pretty darn attractive.
I've always held schooner owners as a breed apart, the creme of the wooden...
Aside from getting between Glen and Airlie, this video shows it can be a dangerous "sport"!
It really is akin to most of the other gymnastics at the Olympics, it's just that at this point the athletes are over the age of 14.
This really is incredible:

I worked back stage at the Newport folk festivals in the late 60's and I got to watch Doc sitting back stage playing along in front of a speaker while BB King was playing on stage. If anything, Doc...

Great song, great singer, though her song, "Rock That Sucker" might be more appropriate to my life...

Jay, would you go solid wood, or some form of glued up, either thinish stuff laminated, or strips? I guess my concern is warping or swelling and shrinking in a humid environment. Thanks.
These first pictures are what's there now, though I've since cleaned it up, and the latter are some of a sister vessel that was redone with some form of "African Mahogany."

Glued up, or solid? I bet it is lovely, any coatings?
Oh and this one is heart breaking from Warren Zevon's middle period performed by Jill Sobule:

Jim,
What did you use on Damfino?
That's pretty stunning - since it's for a galley, there isn't that much surface area, so cost may be less of a factor. That's a nice looking galley, what boat is it on?
I've got to rebuild my old cabinets and counters. They currently have a pale whitish Formica top, but is there anything better? Certainly they can be built out of wood, will that hold up to regular...
Of course this one by Jerome Kern is pretty close - not Modern, but really a gentle lovely love song:

I posted this before, and there are other beautiful songs, but I think that this is one of the best. It has it all, tune, words, emotion, and meaning:

A song that deserves to be much better known, this version is from the original Broadway cast with Robert Preston - from "Mack and Mabel," written by Jerry Herman; I won't send roses.
