Well I managed to find a pic and this is new unfortunately. So starting to try and figure out the repair and when/how I’ll do it. Unfortunately I’m trailer less at the moment and moonbeam...
My wife and I have both had panic attacks in crowded areas before. Having kids means we get to worry about them all the time. Guessing the stress does me in before another gun lunatic.
Sailing backwards, this pulling the mizzen boom forcefully in while pointed in the wind? Like a reverse run?
Nice I did not realize easing the mizzen helped pull through a tack, I'm gonna try this next time when im sailing under just jib and mizzen. I couldn't get it to tack without the main.
I've found it difficult yo get a shot of the whole boat while on it :P

Had a fun rainy day sail today. Winds around 5 kts then Picked up to 10 or so. Under full sail heeling over close hauled moonbeam picked up to about 4.5 kts speed, this is dragging the outboard in...

Figured I should update this thread. Finally in the water and out sailing.

I think I get it, I’ve had it jam already so I’m gonna give this a try. Thanks!

I’m quite interested in what you mean here, the spiral lashing has made raising the sail a bit of a pain but it sure looks nice lol

Haha funny you say that it’s on our first list of things to do for a family trip

Eun mara, 20 ft Loa almost 7 ft beam. I completely understand nothing beats experience but I can’t get experience for maneuvers I don’t know exist. Got some work to get the mizzen sail...
Looking to learn some techniques for sailing with a mizzen, google surprisingly doesn't have a lot of resources being returned. Anyone know good books on sailing with a gaff yawl? Hoping to learn...
Center for wooden boats in Seattle hosts youth boatbuilding classes that seem to be doing well. I learned in my 30s and hope to teach my kids. Still in my thirties lol.

Well David got back to me and said it’s been there since the first season. Guess I’ll keep an eye on it for changes and hope the new bottom paint keeps any water out if its an outside...
Best pics I can find below the water line so far

I'm not 100% sure how the planks sit against the keel were done, there's no obvious fastenings I could see. The keel is bolted through the frame, could be coming up through a bolt I suppose.
It feels hard and knocking on it the sound isn't any different than the non colored boards. My main goal was to decide if I can keep her moored for the season and have fun sailing and I'm getting...
The bilge cover boards appear to be the same so I'll get a pic tomorrow of the end grain. Not sure I can do anything about the fillets...
This is meranti according to the survey originally done
I just assumed this is coming from outside, this is inside the cabin and very little water gets in here. I can easily enough recoat inside while she’s moored…but how do I know if I have...
I got one from duckworks and it was put together pretty nicely

I believe just epoxy, there was a new coat of bottom paint added in January. I was more worried I would have to replace it I guess. I’ll take pics and keep an eye on it, more hoping the bottom...
Noticed discoloration in the bilge which I assume means water has penetrated the ply there. It feels hard still but I can’t tell of this is new or not I don’t recall seeing it before. ...
I don’t think it can mount any higher, not anyway I can see it’s sitting on the top of that timber but I’ll try and share some pics next time I’m out.
Haha ok, yeah I’m glad that thing is sturdy actually the motor jumped pretty hard when I shifted gears and scared me. It’s a solid block inserted into that and bolted through.
Went...
Here you can see my struggles, the gear is right into the hull if I keep the motor straight https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230425/321a4d3fe323e62c069ba30bd1b8344f.jpg

I’m still learning to rig her, only sailed out once. But the main sheet still ties to that stern line so the shackle is above your head back there if that’s what you mean

Unfortunately it only turns one way making it favor starboard lol
Haha maybe that’s it I was turning the wrong way. Gonna do some practice later this week. It’s a tohatsu 4 stroke 4 HP

This is exactly what I ended up doing, just put it in reverse to get a good clearing. Mix of strong wind and waves hitting me made turning challenging. Learned a lot during this launch.

Nay, double ender though stromborg has the same exact boat and put his in a well. The problem was the waves were coming on the side the motor was on. Two or three strong waves managed to shift the...
Yeah did this about 20 minutes into it and helps a bit with the bouncing. It was generally ok but every 4 mins or so a big wave would come and unfortunately they were coming from the west and I was...
Final final update, the wheels didn’t fall off though the sound tried hard to throw me off my boat.

What's your favorite way to keep the hatch open a bit for airflow? Keep looking at all these keep open devices but they don't seem like they'd hold up to saltwater...
July 24th is scheduled for a sail from Blake island to Kingston, I can give you a call when we head out that morning. Where are you moored ? I can see if the path takes me that way. I’m...
Final update: New bearing and seals greased up and installed. After I finished the obvious one that made me question things in the first place I took my new knowledge and checked the opposite tire, ...
So a bit of an update, canoeyawl was a hero and spent a bunch of time helping me find the proper sized replacement hub. It wasn't easy to find. Unfortunately it was met with another complication,...
To your point, I checked my auto parts store which I had not before and they actually have both bearings I need...if I can figure out the seals I can at least assemble the current hub and get the...
BTW the folks are etrailer.com are pretty useless lol, everyone keeps mentioning them. I've passed these very specific questions and they just link me to articles that don't answer the questions....
These are the bearings it used, one was still intact and I found them in pairs from some eBay hubs no longer for sale. The sizes match the spindle where I measured.

"Inner races" - is this referring to the diameter inside the bearing?
Lol the lights actually work :p though the connector is corroded and needs some love
Can I not add the shackle to the already existing hanger?
The large amount of rust?
So hub to hub, which is the outside of the current hubs was pretty close to 89", so I was going to order an 89" axle as it seems pretty standard. Leaf center to center was 74" (or within .5" of...
The spring measurement are unclear to me, it's 26" straight line between bolts, I need to measure from bolts to center and add together?
The other question..this appears to be galvanized axle. ...
