Excellent skills development!
Looking great Neil! Have fun in Skye, it is on my bucket list.

What about a really thick oversized plywood baseplate under the post with the post bolted to the baseplate? Edges could be chamfered to ease the transition from the wood baseplate to the deck. ...
Somebody is going to have a very nice boat when you are done!
Beautiful! I've been following along quietly for a while. Great work and choice of boat.
Wooden Boat store has a kit. Suggested since they help pay for this forum. https://www.woodenboatstore.com/products/oar-leather-kit?_pos=1&_sid=506aac205&_ss=r
Looks good Neil, and stout!
Is your "electric outboard" really a trolling motor? If so the shaft is likely to be long enough to hand over the side. I have one that has worked well hanging off the side where I reenforced the...
Looks just right!
Jim, Your boat just keeps getting more beautify with every post. I'll just keep viewing and sublimating my boat building urges.
Neil,
I replied to your private message but I cannot confirm that the system actually forwarded the message to you.

Sorry, I for got to provide his name. Floki is a Cream Colored Golden Retriever (aka English Golden Retriever). I had pressed my wife to name him Hamish so when I suggested Floki as an alternative...
Looking very good Neil! So is D'Arcy a sailor? The reason I ask is we brought home this little guy Dec 9th and was wondering if he'd be a good first mate on the boat. In six weeks he has gone from...
And here I thought the post was excessively verbose! :d
Looking really good! I like the color scheme but grey soles sound fishy to me. . .
Philly seaport museum had a boatbuilding 101 class that spent most of its time on lofting but I don't know if they provide that any more.
Bayviewrr,
Great choice of a vessel fit for purpose, the environment and it is a "native" of the area. I will follow your thread with interest. I launch my sailboat out of Tribe's Landing,...
It is amazing what one can do with basic tools like a couple of pulleys and a bit of rope. Nice progress and great video.
That a big step forwards, and a big open landscape of boat to fill. Keep on plugging. Here on the "up" side of the planet I'm packing up my sails and flushing the seasons offering out of the boat.
Black locust and they'll outlast the canoe.
A little paint on the hull and a gunwale and al of a sudden the sheer line really pops.
Looking good Neil!
I am sure a number of us owe Keyhavenpotterer a thank you for the good advice.
I want to thank AJZimm for posting this drawing and comment about yard tension. I have added the padeye to my yard as shown and a better outhaul to the peak of the sail. As a result my upwind...
This looks like a drawing from one of my old math textbooks, t'was a long, long time ago. . .
I stick my head in the door from time to time to see your progress. I appreciate the economy of your...
Looking very good Neil, I like your color choices. I painted using the roll and tip method with a very thin nap foam roller and tipped with a semi-dry natural brush applying traditional Interlux...
Boat looks very pretty as do your oarlock sockets. I had seriously considered building a Peregrine 18 but the Caledonia Yawl just had more appeal for me. Enjoy the process and the product!
We don't speak English, we talk American (dialect).
Well done. That is one BIG little boat, impressive. Very handsome under sail.
Congrats and well done! I am sure you will enjoy sailing her.
I'd bet those forward spray rails were put on after the first outing with the new forward piloting position. The person who drove the boat on the first outing got wet from the nose-down trim. ...
Best place to start is reading and watching how to videos.
A free pdf and good resource on working with epoxy: https://www.westsystem.com/wp-content/uploads/GougeonBook-061205-1.pdf

Just beautiful!
Nice to see your progress Neil.
Excellent!

I am a rank amateur but if you are going to epoxy the deck why not just use thickened epoxy for the screw and glue work. Strong, water tight and very forgiving of poor fit. Wood flour would work...
Deltaville Deadrise was a great post to follow your Port Comfort 23 build. Hopefully the new owner will send a picture or two of the boat in action that you can post here.
I believe that roller will make retrieval very difficult.
Your boat is beautiful, enjoy!
Looking good, when do you plan a first run?
Congratulations! Your boat looks like it's at home on a mooring. I hope you post some sailing pictures so we can see how you chose to rig your sails.
My choice for a good selection and reasonable price for the east coast: https://hamiltonmarine.com
Since nedL suggests Goulet Specialties in CT I would check them out too.
Good luck with the PT, sounds like you are in good hands. Be religious about doing your at home assignments, they are just as important. I'm five months out on knee replacement and PT was critical...
On a trailered boat porch and deck paint should be fine. However, if you want a marine paint that won't break the budget Rustolium Marine is a reasonable option. I have used it on my boat and works...
I haven't seen one of these since 1968!
That might cause a massive bums rush!
I am a long time stalker - I have enjoyed the elegance of this build and have taken a number of important basic lessons to heart. Some have been put to...
Other than being dependent on the temperament of the weather would it be easier to complete the rest of the boat and then build the cabin to out on the driveway? I can't past the concept of...
The only thing that comes close to being a "mini-lightening" in my experience is a Bluejay. Either way both boats are fun to sail.
As Rich Jones said Rustolium Marine would be just fine on a...
You are caught between a rock and a hard place.
.
Crazy question: Would the boat fit through the door on its side so you don't have to amputate the cabin top?
Crazier question: Is the header of the garage door wood or brick? You know...
