    Thanks Mrlft8 I think the wax sounds good for this, eventualy I will redo the bad ones until then this could work. can they be melted or heated for molding into place as well ?

    sounds good, and what happens with the varnish stick? I can see where the wax will squeeze out with shrinking of crack, will the varnish stick chip out the wood, or fall out on its own?
