  1. Re: Small plywood boat ladder frame question

Nothing fancy but it’s solid, straight, and true as I’ll get it.
This may sound ridiculous but I was thinking I may paint it. Not for aesthetic purposes of course but I know I am going to use it...
  2. Re: Small plywood boat ladder frame question

I have a 2’ level and an old Davis cast iron(18” I think). It has an inclinometer who started a railroad in Oregon in 1890. I will look into the water level. That sounds like a fun project in itself....
  3. Re: Small plywood boat ladder frame question

Thank you. I’ll add ‘framing square’ to my slope calculation kit. As I recall the only tool in my slope kit is y=mx+b. I’ll add a framing square hehe.
I am curious how to use a plumb for the...
  4. Re: Small plywood boat ladder frame question

‘Materials on hand’ is what I should have said. All I had for cross members were under 20”. I also wanted to use plywood under the ends to brace and provide a convenient shelf for tools, clamps etc....
  5. Re: Small plywood boat ladder frame question

First of all, thank you so much for your reply. It’s greatly appreciated.
Yes… I think. It sounds like strongback and ladder frame for the hull molds are relatively the same thing.
    Framing...
  6. Small plywood boat ladder frame question

Building Beach Pea… ladder on saw horses…
How critical is the width? I presume wider is better for keeping things straight and true but due to material limitations I’ll have to hold off building...

    Re: Building a Beach Pea

Amateur hour question … Is the width of the ladder frame critical? Is 18-20” suitable? I’ve actually built the frame years ago for this build and there must have been instructions for the frame...

I completely agree. That makes a lot more sense than a prop shaft.

LOL You're suggesting dodgie hardware put their business in the toilet? If ithis piece was a shaft strut, I can’t think of a more plausible explanation.

    Re: Unknown Crittenden Hardware

I get it. That makes a lot of sense and I found a couple examples but note the locking fasteners streamlined design. I mean... it’s a logical guess but C-W was more than capable of engineering an...

    Re: Unknown Crittenden Hardware

You’re the second to suggest that but were variable pitch shafts so common as to justify a mainstream supplier to create molds and profit from them?

    Unknown Crittenden Hardware

Can anyone tell me what this is? I thought it was a rudder gudgeon at first but it seems awfully large. 3/4” ID. It’s a sizeable chunk of MgBr.
