knowing where you are going is overrated...:p
Weisenheimer!... Actually I have pondered a small leeboard slipped through a slot in the chine runner.... so I can sit on the windward side when in deeper waters for counter balance.
Actually that transom had pretensions of having a trolling motor stuck to it, and I am going to fit a small push/pull rudder to it also (Blade/head already made, just got to do the quadrant and...
About 4 years ago, while at the Lake Pepin messabout, I built a daggerboard for someone who forgot his at home. We used 1x lumber and shaped it with a jigsaw and a cordless grinder with a flap wheel....
I don't think that they are ever really finished....
needs a solvent like... rubbing alcohol ;)
I haven't seen this one posted yet...

The whole site seems to go out of it's way not to tell you exactly what species of wood it is.
Where at? Duckworks may be cheaper if Stainless suits your style.

Staple some wax paper or plastic to a board. Clamp one piece of your stock to the board with the scarf angle facing down. Butter up the other piece and slide it in underneath until it mates...
Harbor Freight has 6" (I think) bar clamps for something like $3 something each... I usually pick up a dozen or so when I'm in there. Padded jaws, quick release/zip tab and screw tightening... not at...
I have used the BB underlayment and it has worked well... Proviso you seal it thoroughly. When exposed to weather it turns black although I haven't had any delaminate or rot to pudding or punk. Keep...
Looks like it isn't getting clamped properly and is shifting. It also looks like one is angled slightly more than the other but that could just be the picture. Is there a crown in there somewhere...

She's pretty svelt.. I wouldn't take it over 50 sf and I would probably go with a balanced lug to keep things centered properly. A...
I have probably 100 clamps of various configurations... not including the pack of El-cheapo spring clamps languishing in my living room from my last soiree to the box store. Building a boat you need...
Depending on the finish of the actual inside of the hull... you may want to do your painting of the hull between the blocks prior to installing the inwales, and perhaps most of the varnishing or...
Where do you find a moon that is that bloody big?
Never mind... I guess the credits said it all... sigh!
Dig the nail out and make the hole a little bigger (so you can make sure the epoxy fills it entirely). Wrap a piece of plywood or wood a that is a little thinner than your board with plastic so that...
Sorry... had to throw this in. I just saw it and it seemed apropos with all the beetle discussions

Rent a Pickup and haul it down, have the wife follow in the Ridgeline. Or rent a U-haul and haul some of your possessions along with the boat.
Too true... and all the time!
You wish you had cleaned your hands before you took a leak!
Did you say you were going to use PRESSURE with epoxy. Not a good mix. Better to use only light pressure so as not to starve the laminate. Use a notched trowel to spread thickened epoxy to a uniform...
Who waits to eat??????
Makes a pretty decent bow too. It is good for bendy stuff as it becomes quite pliable when soaked or steamed. Inwales, Gunnels, even slat ribs for canoes etc.
Did you tape the outside also?
An actual scarf would have taken 1/10th the time to do and a Payson Butt joint would have been 1/15th of the time. Too much effort wasted. That joint is for machines to make... not to do by hand.

Take it to a seamsperson and have then run some zigzag along the tape edges to keep things together. Might cost you $10
Benefits of a 28" monitor... X2!

That doesn't look like 1/4"... more like 9 or 10 mm.
Those blocks should be in the after part where they won't affect the curvature and make unfair flat spots.
Look on ebay for "CatYak" but not the CatYak II. The sail was about 40 sf and was about $50. I bought one of each combined less than $100. Haven't tried them yet but the big one is going on my...
How big are you looking at for that lateen?
Better known as Cabosil or Fumed Silica. Excellent Thixotropic properties. Wear a mask and don't breath the dust... which will float everywhere. Don't use it with ANY kind of breeze/wind anywhere...
About 6 years ago I picked up an old (50's) 14' aluminum boat (a "Tinny) and a decent trailer for $200. Last summer I finally got around to replacing the rotting plank seats and doing a thorough...

Lookin' goood!
Or just follow the url for the picture.
No... if done as large as Wiz's they should be quite strong enough. Remember... this boat isn't gonna take a pounding at 40 mph... more like 4 or 5. With the addition of the thwartship bracings from...
Talc (baby powder) makes a decent filleting material. If you don't want to sand, tape the edges of your fillets to get a nice border, lay in the material and smooth it out to a nice even cove then...

'Cause that's where the messabouts are!
It'd be pretty in December.... now it's pretty depressing. Last year it was around 80 deg... and had been for a month.
You can get small kits of 1:1 epoxy from Clark Craft also... I used it exclusively for a long time but found it a bit expensive in larger quantities so I switched to Progressive when I started using...
