That looks great Y>
Only came home with two fish yesterday.
We ran straight out to 75 feet, ...about 12 - 13 miles I guess.
I let my friend take the wheel to bring us back in....
It was a great experience to sit back...
I can smell the rot from here....
Get a qualified wooden boat surveyor to inspect this boat before you plunk down any cash.
Never trust what the seller is telling you...or take the advice of a...
Great Jim.
I'm kinda bummed that ended so soon.
What's next?
Holy Cow!!!
You got her launched!
Looks great.
Don't be shy with that waterline..... I was, and need to add a couple of inches aft on mine....
Next winter.
Mike,
I don't always comment, but I'm always watching.
The work you continue to do is exceptional.
Thanks for keeping us posted on the progress.
Don't make that ring too small.... by a much bigger diameter than you might think.... My attempt jammed way too easily....too small diameter.
The paint really starts to show the finished product.

2nd Boatlife polysulphide...
But this time around I used Quad sealant from Home cheapo...
About 8 bucks a tube.....very rubbery....
Cheap enough to buy a tube to try out.
I have no complaints so...
Great day fishing on Lake Erie yesterday...
We got 8 walleyes... threw back a few 5-6 pound cats...
Went out in 1-3 foot waves... headed back in once the wind kicked up and waves were building up...
That's a great looking old boat.
Really nice place to work in.
I'm on board to watch this come together.
Keep us posted.
Good choice.
Building the boat around that garage framework would be a nightmare.
Keep at it .......
Your well on your way to having a completed boat.
Love seeing a new build from you Jim.
I don't trust an outboard hanging on a glued joint....
Lake Erie was like a sheet of glass this morning...
I was able to really let Sisu run for the first time...
With myself and a 3/4 tank of gas I was running consistent 20 mph.
This is with my Solas...
Kirby's paint is the best.
They are on the east coast.
Marshall's Cove I think is the west coast equivalent.
Just good old oil based marine paint.
We were on the water by 5:30 this morning, and back to the ramp with our limit of Walleye by 9:30....
Fish are cleaned and I am chilling for the rest of the day.

I vote for galvanized pins, 3/8" ...and epoxied in.

The boat looks great
I can relate to the stack of receipts.....😉
I have not been attacked yet....
They are 40 feet up there...
She's eyeballing me though when I have the binoculars out.
Waiting to see the little ones take flight.
Happy 4th Y'all.
I know this has nothing to do with the boat, ....
But we have a family of Coopers hawks living in our front yard...
3 youngsters in the nest.

Or you could pin the frames with a heavy copper nail or copper rod drilled for an easy slip fit, and epoxied in..
I did this with the toe rails on my last project..
Nice work
This morning I proved to myself that I can launch and retrieve my boat single handedly.
No trouble doing so.
Didn't stay out on the lake though.... I felt it was too rough to risk being out alone.
Thanks for sharing these pics.
Extend the lounge of the trailer if it worries you.
Towing with a front wheel drive Odyssey, you're worrying needlessly about spinning tires on the ramp...especially with a lightweight johnboat in tow.
Thanks for the great pics.
Did mine on the boat.
Packing tape to keep stuff from sticking, and drywall screws 'til the epoxy sets...
The clamping pads (scrap plywood) were re-used over and over...
Coming together....
Ready to see her hit the water....
The bottom can fit "between" the fenders easily....just need to get the right trailer.

The steepness of ramps varies....
For reference my Ninigret sits 26 inches above the pavement at the ass end.
More importantly the skeg of the outboard is about 11 inches aboveground in the down...
I gotta do something real soon myself.
Beautiful boat and story.
Thanks Guys.
Just 2 walleyes today, but another trip scheduled for tomorrow.....
Making the best of a vacation week. :ycool:
Gotta keep you on your toes......
Following
Love it!!!
We have all been there!
"Before I get my old ass in trouble" is exactly the reason that ladder is there!
My very good friend reminded me that I will need it if I am out by myself and go in unexpectedly
I haven't used it...
That well looks good.... short shaft motor...?
We had our first good fishing trip this morning....
6 keeper size walleye plus we kept a white bass and a perch.
The wind and waves started to kick up in the 3 to 4 foot range so we came in for the...
Wanting a lapstrake double ender means you should look at Oughtred's boats.
Don't be too fast to rule out epoxy.
I at first thought the same, but now I am so glad I did glued lap on my most ...
Good luck.
Wear a life jacket.
I wouldn't plan on hanging my outboard on that...unless I didn't mind losing it.
Way too much rot showing there, and you have to know the rot extends farther than what shows.
Buy a cheap FG boat...
Nice Kevin!
That hooker sure looks sturdily built.
Enjoy your time there.
