Fascinating. Thank youThere is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled. -

What a good find. I wonder just how much of the Chinese Junk design and technology has been researched and recorded in China? As working craft they seem to have all but disappeared.Without freedom of speech, we wouldn't know who the idiots are.Comment

Does anyone know what the point of the turret deck is on some junks (see page 4 of http://www.thomashoppe.net/downloads/Gutou_Nov.pdf for one example)? This is a very strongly crowned deck on some junk types--the example in the pdf has a sort of false deck over the turret deck, since the crown is too great to walk on. Does this serve some structural purpose?Comment

A very informative and well illustrated book on th subject is:THE JUNKS & SAMPANS OF THE YANGTZE by G.R.G.Worchester. Worchester was th river inspector of the Chinese Maritime Customs office durin the time of Brittish control.
