About BOI
After a building a skin on frame Baidarka 20 years ago I've recently rediscovered boat building. Every day driving home from work I marvel at the giant rock called "Weeball Island" at the entrance of the bay and said to myself that I need to get there someday without a motor. The replica of the Gokstad faering at the L'Anse aux Meadows Viking site started getting me interested in double ended rowboats, and I'm working on designing Viking-inspired, fast, light rowboats that are easy to build out of underlayment plywood. I hope the genes and experiences of my grandfather (an inventor) and my father (a designer and builder of inflatable boats) have rubbed off sufficiently to pull it off.
