Biography:
I started sailing in 1999 when I was 43 years old and pastoring a church in a small town in eastern NC. I bought a Kells 23, Sailing for Dummies, and I was on the water. I sailed Flying Lady for 5 years and bought a Macgregor 26S that I renamed Heaven Bound. I sailed her until 2012 when I downsized to Anago, a Hunter 18.5. Anago is a Greek word. In the New Testament it is translated several ways including "set sail" as in Acts 18:21. It is used twice to refer to the resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:7 and Hebrews 13:20). My sailing experience is mostly on inland lakes though we have managed to take each boat on at least one multi-day excursion to bigger waters: Chesapeake Bay, Tampa Bay and Pensacola Bay respectively. Most recently, I sailed Anago from St. Mary's, GA to Savannah, the entire length of the ICW through Georgia. In addition to sailing, I have built three "stitch and glue" wooden boats. The last was a Bateau SD 11. In fact, Jacques has included some pictures of my boat on the SD 11 pages: https://www.boatbuildercentral.com/product/semi-dory-11-boat-plans-sd11/ It is the white one with the red cove stripe. I recently sold "Little Bit", the SD11, and have started building a Calendar Islands Yawl 16 with a thread here on the forum. I have had two articles published in Small Craft Advisor, both about sailing excursions that I have taken. I have a blog: https://captnkid.blogspot.com/
