Home Depot Oars

I needed some quick 7' oars for my whisp and I already had a piece of 1/4" x 6" (5-1/2" actual) x 36" basswood and I got 13' of their 1 1/4" closet pole. The shafts are not as stiff as fir or spruce but the blades are surprisingly stiff, I wrapped a single layer of FG tape over the ends of the blades. I made a kayak paddle same way once. Nice job. I bet they'll hold up just fine. Lots of cheap oars around in the stores that aren't made any better.
