Please enlighten me on how best to plumb Water tanks. I have two tanks under the settee/bunks and one forward under the Vee. Each has a vent, approx 1/2 inch and a 1/2 inch line in the bottom. There are inspection ports in the top. What there is NOT is an fill.
These days filling water tanks is a gimme that usually happens when at the fuel dock buying a thrifty five or ten gallons of diesel. So it needs to happen rather quickly.
What I plan is an addition of a small tank next to the galley sink. The three belly tanks will be plumbed off this day tank. I plan to shut off the day tank and have a Tee so that I can use this for drinking wtr.
Does that sound like an effective system, which will achieve the desired goal of filling three tanks quickly through the existing half inch lines. I expect to install a valve/manifold which will isolate the tanks.
Thanks for input updating a 1950's system to modern conveniences.

What there is NOT is an fill.
So how do you fill them?

My opinion, EACH tank MUST have it's own fill pipe and vent, and the 1/2 output tube run to a central easy to get to place where each line will have a shut off, from those shut off's to a pump to provide pressure at the taps. This way you can use water from one tank untill it's dry, then switch to tank #2 or #3 or #....

I would NEVER connect the output of one tank with the output of another tank.

Thanks for your opinion. I dunno how the tanks were filled, unless the inspection port was used as fill. The manifold will serve to isolate tanks in use and allow filling all tanks at once.
