That's a very reasonable price and a far lower one than where they started out. This boat HAS been restored recently and is very good condition (the photos don't lie in this case).

Someone should buy this boat :).

She got some water inside and it froze... pushed out a plank slightly near the keel...1/8 inch apparently. She has 6 layers of 6 oz cloth below the waterline feathered out to one layer topsides, all done in epoxy. Many new ribs, and a new deck in ply with glass on top. 3 sets of sails, including a 1950's cotton set in very good condition apparently. Mast is good, trailer is available extra.. electric brakes on it.

I'm thinking about it, but it's a long way away...

Tell me bamamick, (since I gather from your posts that you know a bit about Dragons,) from what you can tell from the ads, what is that boat worth, providing there aren't any boobytraps?

PMJ: Just getting that boat to the coast could be a chore. Princeton is 288 klics, (180 mi;) from Vancouver. Or you could truck it to Hope and throw it in the Fraser but there is still 154 klics, (96 miles) to Vancouver. I would'nt want to sail a boat with any draft down the Fraser. Shifting sandbars.
Google says that Princeton to Belleville is 4,321 k's, (2,700 mi.) That boat could be expensive by the time it reaches your frontyard.

I considered buying that boat a few months ago. Boat hauler to AL was $3500 incl trailer.

What is it worth? The Dragon exhibited at Mystic last year was being sold for $60K US. That's $60 THOUSAND dollars. It sold in a couple of months. I don't know the price but you can imagine it was quite a bit. The boat exhibited in 2007 is still for sale for in the $20's. Looks gorgeous from the photos.

I bought my boat for $2500 and have about $40K in it now. I get Dragon people all the time ask me how much their boat is worth and my answer is always the same: don't have a clue. If I were to try and sell my boat (never going to happen), I would ask around $15K US for it. In my humble opinion 'Nike' (the boat in BC) is well worth $6K, but make darn sure you get the trailer. A Dragon without a trailer is like a one-legged duck.

Someone buy this boat. My honest opinion on how much it is worth is based on other Dragons for sale, other class boats for sale in WoodenBoat or Classic Boat, and just my general experience with this sort of thing, but I would price it in the low teens, probably anywhere from $12-14K, but as I say, that is totally unprofessional and a guess.
