Just finished SR launched this afternoon at the former Dions, Kittery Point Yacht Yard. She'll be at the float for the weekend. If you're in the area stop by and say "Hi".

Anybody who can should stop by to see it so photos can be posted.

I was just thinking about the full length planking on the boat last night, Thad. Strange coincidence!

I work across the river and never knew anything, curses. I could have driven the launch over there, I could even have included it in the curriculum

My mooring is less than a mile away. Never saw any sign of that boat...but then, we locals do our best to avoid that yacht yard, which has a bad reputation. Glad to hear of a new SR, but sorry to hear it's at that place.

For those that don't know Crocker's Sallee Rover design here are a couple of pictures I took Friday up at WoodenBoat of Martha, the Sallee Rover that Joel White built for his father E.B. White:

She's being sailed here by her current owner, Rich Hilsinger, head of the WoodenBoat School.

That's the sloop version Crocker drew (I believe for White) after the original yawl.

Pretty cool eh. I introduced my daughter when she was 7 or so to Steve White. I introduced him as E.B. White's grandson. He was very gracious.

Hello
Jacy (my son) and I are at Raven (Redds Pond - Sallee Rover) pretty much every weekend. Please do stop by to say hello, love to meet some locals. We're moored a couple of hundred yards up the back channel from the KPYY docks along the Navy yard side.

Sallee Rover is the boat that introduced me to traditional wooden boat construction, at least theoretically. WB's article with Sam Mannings drawings of Sallee Rover's construction was in one of the very first issues I ever bought. That was a huge Ah Hah!!! moment looking through those drawings and seeing how you would actually go about building a curvy beautiful hull like that. I've had a soft spot for that design ever since. Doubt I would ever build anything like that, but it sure is a pretty little boat.

Cheers,

Bobby
