New Egret

I have been pondering long and hard and I am about to committ to Oughtred's Haiku. While researching I came across this boat:

I don't care for all the mods (some but not all). One thing I find interesting is they are selling them for $129.000 Euros (if babelfish is right).

The next thing I need to do is build an accurate model (I do this with all my builds). I have Iain's address but do any of you know the price of the plans and if study plans are available, and where they might be sought?

Thanks for the input. I know I am not the only one obsessed with these Egret threads.

Under "Ontwerp" the pictures seem to show that they took a lot of spring out of the sheer and added a lot to the height of the cabin. Makes her look heavy.

I've Parker's book (I prefer the Haiku) and I've seen the Duckflats page, but 900 Australian seems like a lot for plans (not that I don't understand the value to the amateur of well-crafted plans.) Iain's Grey Seal plans are $275 from our host.

I didn't know which boat you preferred. There's an article about the Dutch boat in one of the recent WB's (I think, though it might be classic boat).

In the Nic Compton book it says that Oughtred is disappointed that the one Haiku built was heavily modified. I don't know if more have been built or if this is still the situation

I too noticed the 129,000 Euro price tag. Considering we are talking about a light displacement flat bottom ~28 foot plywood boat, one can only assume that everything is pretty much gold plated, not your typical sharpie workboat. BTW there is an article in the latest WB about this very boat, which I guest you've already read.

I've seen the pictures of Regret from the WBS. It must be the most elegant of all the Egrets. I'd like to see more detail pictures. Which set of plans was the inspiration for this one?

The builder told me it was mostly from the Wooden Boat plans, but he also used Parker for some and Outhgred (for the tandem boards)

Thinking "Regret" is just a play on the design name, but sounds more like a bad omen.

Nice boat. The Haiku featured in "Watercraft" is also absolutely gorgeous.
