This weekend I was fortunate enough to go camping on Baker Lake for 5 days. awesome. We brought my In-laws small fleet of boats. minus the flagship, Windflower, who is currently on blocks in the shed.
Here we have the fleet on a gravel bar in front of Mt. Shucksan, equally impressive as Mt. Baker.

Here we have the Canoe. A beautiful example of a 1929 Old Town Canoe, model Common Sense. She was found at a garage sale with tattered canvas. My Father-in-law Steve, who is my boating mentor, Re-canvased her and brought her back to usable condition. They take her camping all the time.

This is a circa 1930's 16' Whitehall. Steve bought her from a friend in pretty bad shape. several new ribs, a new Oak stern, and the removal of the top strake, shes a great rower. The stern stem still leaks a bit, and I wish she had her sheer strake. It was removed because it was in bad shape, and Steve is short. Im not, so i'd like a taller oar lock. But she rows like a dream.

Here's the one I get to use and keep at my house. She is the Matty, and she's a 16' Mattinicus Double-ender. built around 1986 of plywood strakes, she's a little beamier around the turn of the bilge because the plywood wouldn't bend enough. she has two rowing stations and a nice little Sprit rig. It's set up that way because its a sail he had laying around when she was built. Hopefully this winter we will set her up with a balanced lug rig. the sprit rig is more traditional, but she doesn't point that well.

Here's my dog Quincy. He is a 9 month old Viszla. he is still learning to like the water.
