What are some good ways to align and attach the halfs of a nesting dory. I plan on building about 12 or 14 feet.

Welcome to the Forum!
More info -- we may be smart fellers but we ain't mind-readers. Plans? Materials?

I have no plans yet, but I am thinking stitch and glue for method. I have built a dinghy with this method and it was very straight forward. Actually, dory shape is simple enough that I think I could build without plans.

Most home-designers seem to just use carriage bolts through doubled frames -- a heavy frame on either end of the joint, often raised to form a bulkhead in some cases. Possibly some compressible material or whathaveyou to keep the joint from leaking.

Thanks, Thorne. That is about what I have envisioned. Did not know if there was a better way.

A 12'-14' dory will be quite tender if it's just a scaled down version of a longer one. Take care!
