Prairie Lass, a reworked Glen-L Minuet, went back in the water this evening after over three years on the hard. Not finished but close enough to float. Some water got in somewhere, I sure hope it was just through the centerboard pin which hasn't been regooped in years. Theoretically there is no place else water could have gotten in. Fired up the Honda 5 and went for a quick turn around the harbour:

Bravo JimD!!! Perhaps the water inside was just from the tears of joy expressed by your boat finally returning to her real element?

The fun thing about owning a unique looking boat is people will always know and recognize her for as long as she floats :D:D

Looks like a wonderful and beautiful part of the country you live in.....I'm certainly jealous considering my local, along the shores of the Mighty Polluted St.Lawrence River.

Congrats again!!!

Cheers!

Peter

ps.I didn't know your wifes' name was Rona...hee!hee!hee!....I'll run away now.....hee!hee!

Well done Jim! Good to see you on the water! :)

I agree with Peter and am equally as jealous of your lovely cruising grounds.... aside from the ice in Winter!! :D

Don't be such a wimp Mr.Gibbs......ice in winter is perfectly normal and builds character! That is, if it doesn't ruin your back first trying to break it up to fit your drinking glass .:D:D:D

Cheers!!

Thanks, gents. Its floating stern down a little more than I'd hoped. We moved the two batteries in the cabin as far forward as possible. Perhaps I will take the trolling motor off the bracket and move it forward for storage. Its just there for backup. Also, getting a mast on it with a sail in front of the cabin will help, too. The pilot house is just bolted on with four bolts so it easily comes off, restoring it to a proper sailboat. And if all goes to plan there will soon be wheel steering inside with seating for two, moving the crew forward which should bring her just about to trim, according to my calculations (pure guesswork).

Not yet but a buddy wants to go after salmon as soon as I get the leak fixed. Trouble is he's about as big as you and I don't think he'll fit in the boat.:o

No Sir! Never took a swim at the sand bar but have enjoyed many a fine day anchored, drinking and watching others, just as I've spent many a night anchored in the cove at Dowkers' watching folks dip themselves into the weeds and mud......yuki!!

However, in all fairness, I should also mention that I don't really swim anyway so it isn't much of a loss for me. You,on the other hand, must have all your shots up to date as you've obviously yet to succumb to any nasty infections from swimming in Pooy Louis:D:D:D

Cheers!

The wheelhouse bit sticking up is so easy to bolt on or take off I already wish I'd made two completely different cabins, one very big one for motoring only and a very small minimal cabin for sailing. But its done now so that will have to wait for the next boat, assuming there is one.
