Having to renew my genset (6 Kw) I'm wondering which one to choose. Any advices about the compared reliability of theses brands? Or suggestions for another one?

I ran a 6K Northern Lights for many years on my homestead in Alaska. Ultra reliable and low fuel consumption. No breakdowns. I religiously changed the filters and brushes and had no problems. It ran two 1.5 HP motors at the same time with never a complaint. The line voltage was clean enough to run electronics with only a UPS. I'd buy the same unit if I ever lived off the grid again.

Northern lights for reliability and ease of maintenance.

Thank you all.
My previous one, a Geko, a (German I think) brand which no longer exists, had the alternator cooled by sea water...in the cast aluminium body ! Great idea ! it leaked and destroyed the winding...
No parts available. But the engine ( a 2 cylinders Kubota fresh water cooled) is still fine.
May be I could adapt an alternator coming from another brand ?
If not I'll go for a N.L.

A bit late, but I live here in Northern Lights land, (Seattle...where they are made)
and they have a sterling reputation for durability and service. They use the best available components and have a major trade with the pros; fishermen, ferries and tug guys in this neck of the woods.

I can't think of Onan without thinking of that guy in the book of Genesis.

I knew those Onan generators had been around for a long time, but jeese louise, since Genesis? That's just remarkable.

I've used several N.L. Gensets and would swear by them (PERIOD).

Thank you all : I've ordered the US stuff, you can buy some stock, N.L is gonna increase !
I think it's the best buy, and it fits perfectly in the space. I'll send some pics when it'll be in place.
Yeah! I'll have my expresso aboard again !
