Please post away. What are you working on that's wooden boat-related?
http://www.thewoodenboatshow.com. June 26-28.
I try to turn this over to you once a month, once every-other month.
I'm off to Mystic tomorrow. I hope to see many of you there, as we celebrate (at least to me) the center of MY WB universe.
(I think last year I didn't bring a computer. This year, I'll be better. But I doubt I'll Tweet....)
Look for me in the crowd. I'll be the one needing a haircut, and likely wearing a red WB t-shirt.
Hot (80s-85s) on Thursday and continuing throughout the weekend, I heard today.
Our new slogan?: Summer Begins at the WoodenBoat Show?

Well, I'm working on a 14' Yellowtail skiff, but I've just come inside for a coffee break after being attacked by one of the tools I was using (a very high speed urethane foam-backed random orbit sanding device just exploded - two bits hit me but the big bit bounced off the boat).

I'll post a boat photo later.

I'm well padded Tony - although I had to take the belt on my suit in a notch yesterday.
Here's the foredeck. Photo taken 4 minutes ago, showing the disk that exploded. Like the white Merc, turning red, in the background... there's about 5 cars needing a wash out there now.

I'm off to sharpen the plane iron now....

Triton... and you can't get spares now... a certain big green box store did an exclusive deal with Ryobi and Triton got pushed into receivership. I'd forgotten I had it... it was a replacement for one I wore out on Grantala, and I found it when cleaning up Grantala the other day. Fabulous tool for rapid stock removal.... should have a use-by date on it though.,, especially as it rotates at angle grinder speed.

I'm glad you didn't get damaged Ian .:D
I've got a Triton , a brutal bit of gear ,running the angle grinder with a speed controller works a bit :( ,a bit ! A good way to give yourself tingly fingers too .
These days I use a slow speed 7" Makita sander /polisher with a foam pad ....lovely !:)

Caledonian Oak - essentially a pink Silky Oak - rare and endangered. I couldn't even find a photo of it when I was offered it (long distance), and bought it sight unseen on the word of the guy who had it (I bought a lot of Queensland Maple, Kauri and Teak from him for Grantala). It goes a lot darker and pinker with varnish - but the pink disappears a bit over time with sunlight. I've got some on Grantala.
