1948 Roof suprises - Help me out, pls

:confused:I'm redoing the roof on my Monk and found that there is a tape/material that they used to seam the wood together. Does anyone know what that is and if I use a fiberglass gause/tape with Resine will it get me the same sealing protection?:confused:

I don't think they were using fibreglass tape in 1948, actually. Perhaps this was a later restoration? You do need to be more specific. What's wrong with what is there now? As always, a picture is worth a thousand words.
