If anyone is interested, here is the sequence of what I've done over the last couple of seasons on this boat. We sail and store her in Cape Cod, but I live in Denver so I have to do some of it here. Basically when we bought her the cockpit and trim were painted and not so good looking, so I did my best to rectify that. The boat is a 1947 Crosby built Wianno Senior.

Nice work, Will. I sometimes crew on #80, Ardent and have some fond memories of the Bass River club - of hosts during Scudder Cup they are finastkind.

I get Marmalade down there not infrequently, though this year I'll miss the Catboat Assn Rendezvous at Bass River due to my cruising schedule.

See ya on the Sound.

Ian, the Ardent and all the work Phil has done on her have been an inspiration to me. Nice to hear from you, and I would love to see you at the Scudder Cup events this year. We won't be doing Edgartown, but will be at Hyannisport and Wianno.

Thanks,

And Ian, thank you. If you cruise into Bass River you'll see our Wianno on your way in, and I hope you'll have a chance to anchor and come say hi. You can reach me at 303 875 9533. We're generally there the latter half of July and the first week of August.

Cheers,

Will,

IIR your boat belonged to the Manter Hall School at one time, correct? It's great to see her in restored condition. AFAIK the Seniors I sailed on in Wianno years ago (83, 109, 117 and 169) either burned in the fire or sold away, more's the pity.

Bass River is the one club that sailed them that I never got to visit. The history of the club on the website has a good description of how many yacht/sailing clubs developed over time, at least here in the Northeast US. http://www.bassriveryc.org/history.htm

Thanks all.

I'm not sure of her ownership history. We bought her from a guy in Lewis Bay (Hyannis) but before that I only know that originally she was the Sagittarius and was purchased new in 1947 by the mother of George Edmonds (Osterville) for him and his brother.
