I have a 23 ft wooden boat (pitch pine hull) which has been out the water for quite a while and the hull has completely dried out and shrunk. All the gaps in between the planks have really opened up to the extent that the old putty has started falling out. The gaps are as large as 10 mm. Do i just take out all the old putty the remains and replace with red lead putty ontop of the caulking ? or any other ideas ? thx
