Hey folks,I'm about to cut the hole in my boat for my dagger board.( I've had nightmares).I'm using Sikaflex 291 on everything.I was thinking of also placing cotten caulking along with the 291 when I put down the trunk. Is that pointless?Would it inhibit the goop from doing what it does?
Or mabie it's a good thing.I don't know.Help.Thanks.

I am at exactly the same stage as you (cut the hole next week, probably!). From what you describe, adding cotton to Sikaflex will not be useful, at all, assuming that the adhesive will act as the bedding compound between the box and the hull. I can't really say more until you can give us more details of exactly how everything is going to go together.
How is the hull built? The box? how is the box to be braced/secured to the hull other than with adhesive? etc. etc.
Regards, Tony.

Hey Tonyr, thanks for replying. The boat is a plywood flat bottomed skiff. The dagger board trunk is oak bedinglogs and oak plywood sides.I'm screwing it all in from the under side and supporting it with a thwarp.I think I will pass on the cotten.
