I would love to build a simple double wooden pontoon deck boat but have some questions.

First I have searched, googled, etc. and have not found any detailed plans on building the pontoons. In particular how to make them like a pointy bow in the front.

I did find a site that shows a fellow builder building a "Mark twain" house boat using wooden pontoons, but he did not go into much detail and the mark twain plans are pricey.

What I have in mind is a plywood platform floating on 2 pontoons and glass it all in to seal them up.
Mount a 25hp or so outboard for propulsion.
Build a cabin with a deck roof.
I figure a 8' wide by 24' long would be perfect.

It sounds easy enough, but I guess I need a little direction.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick

Mebbe buy a set of plans for a simple plywood cat about the size you need, build the hulls without any accommodation, spread em out some more and pop your deck ontop?

Hi Rickou812

Check out this video of a very small plywood pontoon boat. There is a free pattern available for it as well. I don't remember where it comes from, but I believe the video will help both in describing the build process as well as the location of the plans. This is a stitch and glue construction which is quite easy and yeilds very fast results.

Good Luck! Let me know if you have any questions.

My wife had better not see this or I will have another project on my hands. She wants a pontoon boat.

Here is the link to the free plans:

Not very big, but a good starting place for ideas.
