Yesterday while driving home from Finn sailing there was a segment on NPR's 'It's Only a Game' about the Volvo Ocean Race focusing on the families (children) of the competitors in the VOR, following them around the world like gypsies while they compete in the race. Never really thought about it. There is a full time teacher and they move the school from city to city. Pretty neat.

Just now on CBS' 'Sunday Morning' show there was a segment on knots and tying them, including an interview with Mr. Ashley's daughter.

Have you seen any of the race on TV ? I guess because it came to Boston PBS has had 2 or 3 half hour episodes on every Sunday. It's been really amazing. They focus as much on the sailers as the boats and the race. And, yes the families tears flow when they leave each city. My favorite line was when Ken Read said he was just following the Kiwis because he didn't know his way through the islands, and then looked back into the camera and said he didn't think he had ever admitted to just following someone else before.
