I made some screw hole repairs and so I had to repaint sections of my bottom (the boat bottom ... that is) with a new coat of Petitt 1959 bronze bottom paint.

Just last year the bottom was painted with Petitt 1959.

The colors don't match. Last years color looks like coffee with a shot of milk and this years looks like a shinny penny. Will the new paint dull down?

Any advice short of painting the whole bottom? Thanks,

Ken

The stuff gets much darker in the water. It also doesn't repel much.

If I recall correctly it is not antifouling...just bottom paint.

I think it's called "hard racing bronze", or some such. I tried it because I thought it looked cool, but it ended up covered with algae by the end of the season. On the other hand, all the rest of the stuff does anyway.

Yes, I often use it on clients' boats. They like the shiny stuff...one ought to be able to scrub the algae at the waterline.

I was cleaning lint out of my navel once and it unscrewed. My ass fell off. Paint was the least of my problems.

Sorry, it's a (very) old joke.;)
